2014 World Cup Graffiti – The Culture Doesn’t Lie

This slideshow requires JavaScript.

Now that the World Cup has drawn to an end, graffiti has begun to emerge throughout Rio. The majority of the images feature starving children saddened by the results of the inexplicable spending by Brazil. With very meaningful pieces exposing Brazil’s government, it is no lie what has been happening down south.

World Cup Live at Target Field

If you are getting sick of all the crowded bars downtown or don’t want to watch the game at home, Target Field has a new option for you. Today, at 11am, the game will be broadcasted free outside at their station video board. There is some seating available as well as concessions being served for those who are wondering. This should make for a good spot to catch the game if you are around the downtown area. Now all we need is a tie or win to guarantee USA’s advance to the next round.

Tomorrow, Jordan brand will release the “Brazil” pack as the World Cup moves gets rolling. The pack will consist of the above Air Jordan VIs & the Jordan CP3 VII AE, both of which take colors from Brazil’s popular flag. The pack is supposed to be a limited drop with only 2,000 pairs rumored for release, if that wasn’t enough; they will retail for $500 adding an extra loop for those looking to cop. June 21st is the official drop date, if you’re trying to grab these you should definitely get a game plan set.

Nike SB: Europe vs Brasil “Friendly”

Nike SB recently sent some of their best European riders out to Brazil to check out the action during the World Cup. Upon arriving, the team links up with some of the Brazilian riders for a few special sessions. During match night, the streets of Sao Paulo are often empty allowing for ideal skating conditions. Plazas, streets, parks, it pretty much goes down wherever; check out the video above and keep an eye out for more.

Brazil’s 2014 World Cup

Not everything is what it is made out to be, and that is what this video specifically showcases. This very short, yet powerful video sums up very well what has been happening in Brazil leading up to the World Cup. Some of this footage you most likely never of seen before, and some of it might be quite shocking to those who haven’t read into this topic. This is just the tip of the iceberg, and millions of people are quite upset about how the government has spent nearly $30 billion preparing for the World Cup, yet Brazil has many other needs and will have nothing to show for it. If you want to learn more on this subject, John Oliver explains it rather well in a more light hearted note. Stay tuned people, the World Cup will be a police/military infested event.

Air Jordan VI “World Cup”

Jordan brand has been pretty quiet as of late, but with the summer nearly upon us; you can expect all of that to change very soon. As the World Cup approaches, they’ve decided to pay homage to the games by designing a pair of VIs. A lot of people are speculating whether these are in fact modeled after Brazil’s colors or if they just decided to have fun, we don’t have the answers; but they are a pretty nice pair of kicks. No word on a release date, but you can expect these to drop sometime before the World Cup in June.

New FIFA 2014 Soccer Ball Incorporates 360 Degree Cameras

adidas brazucam ball captures 360º world cup action

For the last few years Adidas has been developing a soccer ball (the ‘Brazucam’) that is complete with 360 degree views, as it gets booted around the field. The 2014 FIFA World Cup in Brazil will take a whole new angle (literally) when watching the Cup. With a brand new prospective on and off the field, viewers will be able to feel much closer to the action. Adidas made it clear that we can expect interviews and extra behind the scenes footage with the new ball.

It is pretty interesting to see just how technology is affecting EVERYTHING in our lives, and sports are being widely affected due to this. Maybe this is a sign of things to come and maybe see some basketball or football cams in the near future.

Zaha Hadid x AECOM present ‘Al Wakrah Stadium’

Once again we present another design/visualization by Zaha Hadid Architects. These guys are absolutely killing it in every category. They have been designing state of the art cruise ships, stadiums, skyscrapers; pretty much name it and they have designed it.

Zaha Hadid worked together with AECOM to come up with their latest design/bid on the Al Wakrah Stadium in Qatar. The stadium design is set to hold 40,000+, and will begin to start building as soon as 2014. The stadium needs to be completed by 2022 for the FIFA World Cup in Qatar.  My vote goes to Zaha Hadid, as we will find out soon who will win. Props to another brilliant design by Zaha Hadid.
