It’s hard to believe that Dr. Dre dropped his classic album The Chronic 15 years ago. The milestone makes this year’s Dre Day celebrations a tad more important than previous years, so you can expect some awesome parties across the nation. With Chicago having one of the more notable celebrations annually, Go Ill & Burlesque of North America will once again throw their version at the Double Door in Wicker Park. This event will feature performances from Psalm One, Altered Tapes, Lowdown Brass Band, AwDazCate and many more. As usual, these performances will be laced with renditions of Dre’s classic records, for fans who still love The Chronic 15 years later. The night will feature performances from Joey Purp, Netherfriends, Chris Crack, Fess Grandiose and Angel Katz, rounding out what should be a good time. This one’s 21+ and it’s FREE, if you’re looking for something to fill out your Thursday night you should stop by Emporium.

Chicago Green Music Festival 2014


Location: Damen Avenue, Between North Avenue & Schiller Street, Chicago (Wicker Park)
When: Sat-Sun: June 21st-22nd // Noon-10PM

Chicago’s festival season continues with another round of street fests this weekend. Wicker Park’s Green Music Festival will once again shut down Damen avenue between North ave & Schiller St. The festival reflects Wicker’s environmentally conscious attitude by offering green vendors alongside like-minded local retailers. The event will also feature performances from Cheap Girls, AM Taxi, Guided By Voices and Meat Wave to name a few. This one’s all ages and their only asking for a $5 donation to enter, as always beer tents will be available for those who come thirsty. We attended this one back in 2012 and it was a pretty good time, if you happen to be near the Wicker Park neighborhood this weekend; stop by and check it out.
