This week has been a hot one for Minnesota music. Free Living’s own Why Khaliq took to Twitter yesterday to drop a new freestyle for his “WhyWednesday” series. A month removed from the release of his project, Under The Perspective Tree, Khaliq injects a lighter style with this one. The Been Reza produced instrumental is hypnotizing, it’s looseness allows Why Khaliq to find his comfort zone with ease. A relentless stream of bars delivered precisely, Khaliq shows why he’s well respected in the Twin Cities. Check out his “WhyWednesday” freestyle above and stay tuned for more.

The lineup is pretty thick with performances from Why Khaliq, RP Hooks, Lady XOK + Curandero, Angie Citlali, and Mike The Martyr to name a few; Franz Diego and Bdot Croc will hold down hosting duties. First Avenue’s 7th Street Entry has been churning out good show after good show as of late and last weekend was no different. Manny Phesto, Baby Shel and The Rotation took over the side venue for what turned out to be a great night. Left Field and Why khaliq also took the stage while Frank Castle held down the 1s & 2s. Each artist put on a good show, but the evening reached it’s heights during The Rotation’s set and the final record under the “High Minds” moniker. Check out a few pictures from the show above and be on the look out for more.
