Jay Chandrasekhar Working On New Cheech & Chong Script

cheech

Fans of Cheech Marin and Tommy Chong have been waiting patiently the last few years to see if a movie reunion featuring everybody’s favorite stoners would actually happen. Now it seems that some progress is actually happening behind the scenes, at least according to Tommy Chong, who recently reported that Beerfest and Super Troopers director Jay Chandrasekhar is writing the script for the possible reunion flick. There has not been any word yet as to whether or not Chandrasekhar will be directing, but the director has not released any recent news about his possible Weedfest movie, or Super Troopers 2, so I can’t really imagine him not directing, but we’ll see what happens with that. According to Chong, the script for the Cheech and Chong reunion will feature plenty of stoner laughs and a festival called Burning Joint. The film may also be made as a sequel to the toking duo’s stoner classic, Up In Smoke, but there is no official word on that yet. Stay tuned for more news.

James Franco Will Direct Greg Sestero Novel On Making Of ‘The Room’

room

Last year, author Greg Sestero and co-writer/journalist Tom Bissell published their memoir-novel The Disaster Artist: My Life Inside The Room, The Greatest Bad Movie Ever Made. The book follows the making of the cult classic, The Room, of which Sestero co-wrote and co-starred alongside director Tommy Wiseau, in what has become known by many as the worst movie ever made. The Room was released back in 2003 after being plagued by problem after problem in production, including countless actors and crew members being brought on and fired during filming. The movie made a total of $1800 at the box office from a budget of $6 million, becoming one of the biggest flops the film industry has ever seen. Now, actor/director James Franco has decided to adapt the book for the big screen, and will be taking on directing and co-producing roles with Point Grey Productions. Franco and his brother may even be taking on the leading roles, but that has yet to be officially announced. Stay tuned for more updates.
