‘Zoolander 2’ Now Playing In Time For Valentine’s Day

This Valentine’s Day weekend will see plenty of big screen features released for you and your date to go and see for your big date night outings. First up is the new comic-book adaptation for Deadpool with Ryan Reynolds (Safe House, Self/Less) and Morena Baccarin (Heartland, Spy), which, considering it’s an R-rated comic adaptation, has many fans waiting in high anticipation for last night’s midnight showing. The second up is the long awaited comedy sequel Zoolander 2, featuring Ben Stiller (Dodgeball, Meet the Parents), Owen Wilson (Old School, Wedding Crashers), Penelope Cruz (Blow, Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides), Kristen Wiig (Bridesmaids, The Secret Life of Walter Mitty), Benedict Cumberbatch (The Imitation Game, Black Mass), and Will Ferrell (Superstar, Anchorman: The Legend of Ron Burgundy). This time out, supermodels Derek and Hansel must join forces once again to stop an opposing company lead by longtime rival Mugatu (Ferrell) from putting them out of business. Ben Stiller got behind the director’s chair for the new film, and also co-wrote the movie with screenwriters Justin Theroux (Tropic Thunder, Iron Man 2), Nicholas Stoller (Fun With Dick and Jane, The Five-Year Engagement), and John Hamburg (Along Came Polly, I Love You Man). The trailer is available here on MADE. Enjoy your Valentine’s Day weekend!

New Trailer Available For ‘2oolander’ In Theaters February 2016

Reactions by fans to the news that there would be a second Zoolander was pretty mixed, although it didn’t necessarily come with any real surprise considering Hollywood insists on banking on 20-year-old franchises these days. Nevertheless the rumors were true and production has been underway for sometime now, with the upcoming release for Zoolander 2 scheduled for February 12, 2016. Ben Stiller (Meet the Parents, Dodgeball: A True Underdog Story) and Owen Wilson (Wedding Crashers, Midnight in Paris) are reprising their roles as fashion models Derek and Hansel, whose careers are now threatened by a new company attempting to put them out of business. Ben Stiller is once again behind the director’s chair, working from a script by himself and original Zoolander screenwriter John Hamburg (Along Came Polly, I Love You Man), along with Justin Theroux (Tropic Thunder, Iron Man 2) and Nicholas Stoller (Yes Man, Get Him To The Greek). Actors Christine Taylor (The Wedding Singer, License To Wed), Will Farrell (Old School, Anchorman: The Legend of Ron Burgundy), and Billy Zane (Back to the Future, Titanic) are also returning to reprise their roles from the original film, along with newcomers Benedict Cumberbatch (12 Years A Slave, The Imitation Game), Olivia Munn (Magic Mike, The Newsroom), Kristen Wiig (The Secret Life of Walter Mitty, The League), and Penelope Cruz (Blow, The Counselor). Personal politics aside, the trailer does look pretty promising, though perhaps a bit overdone, and seeing Benedict Cumberbatch as a cross-dresser is definitely a step outside of his usual realm of acting, so maybe it will make for a decent Valentine’s date. Only time will tell. The trailer is now available here on MADE. Enjoy the weekend!

Classic Literature Getting Stylized Re-Imagining For New Film Releases

Painter Frank Bernard Dicksee’s 1884 oil canvas Romeo and Juliet.

Just when we thought Hollywood couldn’t do anything more to ruin originality, we see headlines like these in the news and just want to lose all hope. THR recently reported that Sony Pictures has picked up a new film adaptation of William Shakespeare‘s Romeo and Juliet that will supposedly be imagined in the likings of director Zack Snyder‘s 300. The project is called Verona and is the first from writing duo Neil Widener and Gavin James. At the same time director Jonathan Liebesman (Wrath of the Titans, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles) is also working on a new project at Thunder Road Pictures that will tell the story of King Arthur, Lancelot, and Guinivere in a Western-genre setting. This one is titled Man at War and comes from a script by writer Jeremy Lott, but we have yet to hear when this project will be released in relation to Guy Ritchie‘s upcoming movie Knights of the Round Table: King Arthur. I don’t know how fans of classic literature will take news of a 300-style Romeo and Juliet, or two King Arthur movies being made pretty much simultaneously, but with Disney and Marvel both busy popping out Star Wars and Avengers films for every consecutive year from now until God knows when, I can’t say this comes as very surprising news. Keep an eye out for further updates.

Nike x Kevin Durant “The Baddest”

With another NBA season behind us and the possible demise of the “Big 3” in Miami, Kevin Durant is looking at 2015 as his year to shine. With that being said, Nike has once again put together a brilliant commercial featuring none other than the man himself, KD. The visual sees cameos from Chris Mullen, Charles Oakley, George Gervin “The Iceman” and the man, the myth, Dick Gregory. Durant is definitely “The Baddest” player currently in the NBA, there’s no doubt about his lethal repertoire of moves. Check out the video above and get pumped for next year as the NBA draft continues.
