This brew is entirely inspired by my recent trip down to the KC MO area. After living in Lawrence KS for a number of years, we were limited to keystone light and these delicious brews. It turns out, while I was away, they have come out with one hell of a summer IPA – which is only fitting to what our stormy weekend has brought us.
Free State Brewery, out of Lawrence KS., brings a smooth and refreshing brew to the table. The Storm Chaser Summer IPA, is a thing of beauty. The beer is perfectly hoppy with just the right amount of bitterness and refreshing citrus tart flavors. Put it this way, it is a well balanced IPA that will leave you wanting more. Sorry guys, this one can’t be found anywhere outside of the KC area, but feel free to ask your local liq store if you’re really that interested.
As promised, we’re here with a fresh spring time brew. Destihl Brewery, out of IL., has brought these delicious cans to our neck of the woods. I found this one over at Central Liquors for a low price of $3.99 a six pack and could not resist trying it – and it was well worth it.
I’m going to say this now and get the negatives out of the way, make sure to open these nearby a sink or outdoors, because it is bubbly to say the least. After the initial volcano out the top, this brew will deliver. Light in color and feel with a sweet lemony zest – this Belgian Style Pale Ale can be drank for breakfast lunch and diner. Sitting at a low 4.9% ABV, you can take a few down like a champ in no time – not to mention, Abbey’s Single is quite refreshing.
Where: 1095 7th Street West St.Paul, MN | When: September 6th, 2014 | 5pm-9pm | Tickets $40-$50 |
Did you happen to miss the other beer festivals this summer? Well, you’re in luck, because the Summer Beer Dabbler is less than a week away. The 6th annual Summer Beer Dabbler will be held at a brand new location and has expectations to be the best one yet. With the new location being held at the St. Paul Saint’s Midway Stadium, it should make for an open and fun environment.
Commemorative tasting glass.
