Arvell Genius recently released his debut EP, MYDVYZVRE#, a sonic exploration of self and an observation of the world around him. A member of SPVCE, the crew is known for their top notch production, all of which is done in house; MYDVYZVRE# is a perfect example. Arvell’s cryptic, often introspective observations sound schizophrenic at times, the vocal mixing adds to this feeling on tracks like “Assasssment” and “Loop.” At just under 20 mins, MYDVYZVRE# is a dense project that warrants multiple listens. Check it out above and stay tuned for more from Arvell Genius.
RP Hooks has always had some of the more artistic visuals in the Twin Cities, his most recent release, “Pac Talk,” continues that trend. Directed by Alan de Leon Taverna, the visual takes on a dark tone that matches the record perfectly. Minimalist, the video does a good job of providing a cinematic feel. Hooks’ abrasive style sounds rebellious in a world where tension is mounting, short but sweet; this track definitely sets the tone. The homies RP Hooks & GoodKarma Niles took to Twitter last night to release a new track titled “Ghost & Gordan.” The SPVCE crew has been very active as of late, whether it’s a slew of new music from individual members or a string of recent performances. Just ahead of their SPVCE House party on January 28th, “Ghost & Gordan” surely proves a point. The murky production falls inline with all things SPVCE, while Niles & Hooks flash a high level of chemistry.
