Although the first installment of the All City series may have been more expansive, All City Vol. 2 takes a larger look at Minneapolis & Chicago’s hip hop scenes, while still incorporating a few other national artists. 2014 has been a great year for music in both Chicago & Minneapolis, with a lot of creativity brewing in the Mid-West. A couple of weeks back, Spazz & Reelo of ASA dropped some newness in the form of a track titled “Over Here”. Produced by CMPLX, the starry, bass heavy instrumental suits the duo well, they always do a good job of selecting beats that compliment their style. Tonight, Root Music Group and St.Jude Children’s Hospital will bring together a cool event for a great cause. The event will feature performances from Jae Woody, Spazz & Reelo (ASA), Illa Ills, Nick Astro and Frank Sono, rounding out what should be a good time. This one’s all ages and tickets are currently on sale for $11, with all proceeds benefiting St. Jude’s Cancer Program. Spazz and Reelo just dropped a new track via Twitter entitled “This My Shit”. With a feature from Pivot Gang’s MFnMelo, the constant piano heavy instrumental allows for each artists to showcase themselves individually. Spazz jumps right in on the Danny Jamz produced beat, with a nice variety of flows and Reelo infuses some nice punchlines. Melo’s voice comes as a surprise at first, but he quickly makes himself home on the track with his own unique style. Spazz & Reelo are back with a new track entitled “Tonight” for all of our listening pleasure. Produced by Matt Witt, the duo goes in over the celebratory sounding instrumental with ease. A style is definitely beginning to shape as they continue to show off their chemistry. No word on a new project so for now, you’ll have to bump this. Hyype took to Twitter last night to drop some new music upon us. Entitled “Awake”, the record is reflective with a heavy hitting bass. This time around, Hyype has enlisted the help of ASA’s Spazz & Reelo, the 3 have a good chemistry that shows on the track. The lyrics in the track definitely make you think, peep “Awake” below and stay tuned for more from all 3 artists.
Spazz & Reelo are back with another single entitled “Murder”. After dropping the banger “D$GNR” a few months back, it’s good to see them back at work. “Murder” has a hard hitting bass with a pretty dope sample to match. Spazz & Reelo of ASA dropped a new visual a few days back for their track “D$GNR”. A laid back record with production from Wonya Beats, Spazz & Reelo continue to display growth with each new release. Nice to see the kids having fun with the visual, no bullshit; just a dope video that anyone can vibe to. Chicago’s hip hop scene continues it’s hot streak with dope show after show. Rock The Mic 2 will feature a long list of up and comers including Hyype, BigKOMA, Spazz and Reelo (ASA) among others. The event is $5 in advance and $10 at the door, if you’re going to be in the CHI tonight; you should definitely make sure to fall through. Tickets will be available at the door.
