A new action-thriller titled No Escape from writer/director John Erick Dowdle (Quarantine, As Above So Below) is now playing on big screens nationwide. Starring Owen Wilson (Wedding Crashers, Midnight in Paris) and Lake Bell (Million Dollar Arm, In A World…), the film centers on an American couple and their children living in a SE Asian country who must flee to the American Embassy when a war breaks out between the local military and radical protesters taking to the streets. Golden Globe nominee Pierce Brosnan (GoldenEye, Die Another Day) and actor/producer Sahajak Boonthanakit (Elephant White, Only God Forgives) also appear in the supporting cast. The film was originally slated for a February release under the name The Coup but was pushed back for a Fall release instead. Director Dowdle and his brother Drew (who lent a hand in writing the script) are also producing the project through their company Dowdle Brothers Productions, along with The Weinstein Company and Bold Films. The trailer is available here on MADE. Enjoy!
Writer/director Mike Binder (The Upside of Anger, Reign Over Me) has a new project in theaters this week titled Black or White with Academy Award winners Kevin Kostner (The Untouchables, Dances With Wolves) and Octavia Spencer (The Help, Fruitvale Station). The film follows a grandfather who receives custody of his granddaughter and ensues in a custody battle with her paternal grandmother (Spencer) and her father after her mother dies. What follows is an interesting look of culture-clash and understanding as the two families come to work together in their child’s best interest. Also making up the supporting cast are actors Jillian Estell (Chase, So This Is Christmas), Bill Burr (Date Night, The Heat), Anthony Mackie (The Hurt Locker, Gangster Squad), and Gillian Jacobs (Walk of Shame, Community). Check out the trailer here on MADE.
Last week The Hollywood Reporter released word that Disney Channel actor David Henrie would be starring in a new biographical drama about former President Ronald Reagan. Henrie, who has appeared mainly in TV shows like Wizards of Waverly Place, That’s So Raven, and How I Met Your Mother, will be playing Reagan in his youthful days before he went off to Hollywood to become a film actor. This will likely be only a small portion of the script which was penned by Howard Klausner (Space Cowboys, The Grace Card), but as of yet Henrie is the only definitive cast member that has been announced. A $25 million budget has been approved for the Indie film, which is being credited as the first legitimate biographical film about Ronald Reagan, who died after a long battle with Alzheimer’s in 2004. We’ll keep an eye on who is assigned to direct this one, as well as additional cast members.
The kid Dwynell Roland dropped a new track earlier today via Twitter. Titled “So”, the track sees production from TopOfTheLine, the heavy hitting instrumental compliments Dwynell’s energy well. Dwynell Roland’s been pretty quiet since the release of his Factors EP, so it’s nice to get a loose track, we’ll have to wait and see what he has up his sleeve. Peep “So” below and stay tuned for more from Dwynell Roland.
Flight of The Conchords will be joining Dave Chappelle on the Odd Ball Comedy tour later this year so i decided to post one of their best songs from their HBO series. It’s been a long time since i’ve heard anything from the New Zealand duo, hopefully they’re planning on getting back to work soon.
