Soundset Mega Cypher w/ Slug, P.O.S, Metasota, Carnage & More

Legendary host and hip hop guru, Sway; recently set up his Sway In The Morning radio show at Fifth Element resulting in some ill shit. You may have seen the Toki Wright x Greg Grease x Allan Kingdom interview/freestyle, now we bring you the mega cypher. Rhymesayers was definitely in the building offering up some of the city’s best MCs for this one. In order of appearance: Slug, P.O.S, Muja Messiah, Lioness, Metasota, Carnage, Joe Horton and MaLLy all dish out some nice bars off the top. In my opinion, Metasota, Lioness & Carnage shine the brightest, but that doesn’t take away from anyone else; they all did their thing.

Atmosphere – Kanye West (Video)

A couple of days ago, Atmosphere released the visual for their new track “Kanye West”. The video chronicles the escapades of an odd couple, an old Asian man and a much younger, lovelier female companion. The two go on to perform armed robberies, not out of necessity; but for the excitement. Slug plays a cashier while Ant’s cameo is much more low key. Check out the new video above and be on the look out for more from Atmosphere as Soundset draws nearer.

Medium Zach – Valued Input

A few weeks ago, the Minneapolis based producer/emcee released his three track EP titled, Valued Input. This short but extra sweet album plays front to back, back to front and back again. With three legit artists (Slug, Metasota, Mally), Valued Input lives up to its name. Each beat is on point with sharp over the top lyricism leaving you wanting more. If you already havn’t, make sure to share this brilliant EP.

MPLS Throwbacks on Sway In The Morning

The last few years I have been listening to Sway In The Morning, and for some reason thought of this video today. I haven’t seen this video in a while and figured it needed some digging up. Eyedea and Slug trade versus on Sway’s Wakeup Show from a few years back, when the Minneapolis Hip-Hop scene was beginning to boom. The two go completely off the top for nearly 10mn, and develop a nice dual threat as they feed off one another’s wordplay. From that day on, Sway then respected the MPLS Hip-Hop scene.

Last year I was riding into work and caught all 5 fingers of death from Brother Ali; needless to say I was late that day. Ali absolutely destroyed all 5 fingers of death, and blew away everyone in the studio. To this day I am not sure anyone made it look that easy. Watch as brother Ali spits through it like its breakfast.
