Just when we thought we thought it couldn’t get any worse, along comes Walt Disney. The major film studio, which is also now behind the Star Wars franchise and all of the upcoming sequels and “origins” installments, has just announced this week that director Steven Spielberg (Lincoln, Bridge of Spies) and actor Harrison Ford (The Fugitive, Star Wars: The Force Awakens) will be reuniting for yet another Indiana Jones adventure. Indiana Jones franchise veterans Kathleen Kennedy (Back to the Future, Jurassic Park) and Frank Marshall (The Sixth Sensed, The Bourne Ultimatum) will also return to produce the film, which is scheduled for release on July 19th, 2019. There is no word yet as to whether or not Karen Allen (Indiana Jones and the Raiders of the Lost Arc, Animal House) and Shia LaBeouf (Lawless, Fury) will reprise their roles of Mrs. Jones and son, nor as to who will be coming on to pen the script, but we’ll keep you posted on further updates.
It seems like we’ve gone a long time without seeing a scary movie from M. Night Shyamalan (The Sixth Sense, Signs) open on the big screens, but a new thriller from the iconic writer/director is opening in theaters across the country today. This will be his first feature film since 2013’s After Earth; he most recently served as executive producer for the television series Wayward Pines, after writing a couple of episodes for After Hours. He also has an undisclosed project that is still in the early production stages. The new release is titled The Visit and follows two siblings on a visit to see their grandparents, but things turn very strange and the trip proves to be everything but an ordinary trip to grandma’s house. Leading the cast as the two kids are Olivia DeJonge (The Sisterhood of Night, Polarized) and Ed Oxenbould (Paper Planes, Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good Very Bad Day), with actors Deanna Dunagan (Running Scared, Dimension), Peter McRobbie (Spider-Man 2, Lincoln), and Kathryn Hahn (Anchorman: The Legend of Ron Burgundy, Step Brothers) making up the supporting cast. Shyamalan screened the movie at ComicCon in San Diego and received positive reviews from audiences there, who report a really crazy twist in pure M. Night Shyamalan style. I’ll just say it’s about time. The trailer is featured above. Enjoy the weekend!
Although the movie has not yet received a U.S. release date, Glassland is currently awaiting its premiere at the Galway Film Fleadh and then a European release this September. Written and directed by Gerard Barrett, the film follows a young cab driver, John, who takes a job with the criminal underworld in order to save his mother from her addiction and hopefully reunite his broken family in the process. Jack Reynor and Will Poulter both star in the film, as well as Oscar-nominee Toni Collette (The Sixth Sense, Little Miss Sunshine). Check out the trailer here on MADE. We’ll let you know when a U.S. release is announced.
