Back at the beginning of October, thestand4rd set the Twin Cities AND the internet on fire with the release of their video for “Simple Needs”. A surprise drop, the stunning visual compliments the record perfectly; Alex Howard really did a good job directing. This video serves as a major milestone for thestand4rd, not only was it their first; it marked the beginning of their transition from murky, behind the scenes kids, into full fledged stars ready for any stage. If you’ve paid attention to the Twin Cities hip hop scene, you’ve definitely heard all of these names before (save Spooky pre 2013), a testament to just how far they’ve come.
The Stand4rd just dropped a new visual for their track “Simple Needs”. If you’re still sleeping, The Stand4rd is comprised of Bobby Raps, Allan Kingdom, Spooky Black & Psymun, a distinct collective of artists with diverse skills. “Simple Needs” is an immersively cinematic track with an equally cinematic video to match. With Doc McKinney assisting on the production, the instrumental and vocals mix very well, enhancing the viewing experience. The video was directed by Alex Howard and follows the transitions of the instrumental perfectly, a well rounded first visual from The Stand4rd, it’s clear that they aren’t messing around. Check out the video for “Simple Needs” above and be on the look out for more from The Stand4rd, we’re definitely eager to see what’s next.
