New Sci-Fi Thriller ’10 Cloverfield Lane’ Opening In Theaters This Friday

A new sci-fi thriller called 10 Cloverfield Lane is opening in theaters this Friday, March 11th, 2016. Although you might recognize the title, aside from the name, there is apparently no other connection to the original 2008 thriller Cloverfield, which involved a monster of sorts attacking the residents of New York City. This new movie comes from director Dan Trachtenberg from a script by screenwriters Josh Campbell (The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe, Van Helsing), Matthew Stuecken (The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor, GI Joe: The Rise of Cobra), and Damien Chazelle (Grand Piano, Whiplash) about a woman who is involved in a car accident and is held in a shelter by two men who believe the world has been affected by a widespread chemical attack. Starring in the film are actors John Goodman (The Big Lebowsky, Argo), Mary Elizabeth Winstead (Live Free or Die Hard, Death Proof), John Gallagher (Margaret, The Newsroom), Douglas M. Griffin (Dallas Buyers Club, 12 Years A Slave), Suzanne Cryer (Wag the Dog, Silicon Valley), Bradley Cooper (Silver Linings Playbook, The Hangover), and Sumalee Montano (Nashville, Veep). The trailer is available here on MADE; check it out on the big screen this weekend!

New Trailer For Upcoming ‘Jason Bourne’ Sequel Now Available

Sunday night saw a decent amount of new movie trailers played during the 50th celebration of America’s favorite athletic pastime, the Super Bowl. One of these new trailers was a new preview for the upcoming Jason Bourne installment that will reunite director Paul Greengrass (United 93, Captain Phillips) with original actor Matt Damon (The Departed, The Martian) in what will simply be titled Jason Bourne. The two will share writing credits with screenwriter Christopher Rouse (The Italian Job, Greenzone), who has also worked on The Bourne Supremacy (2004) and The Bourne Ultimatum (2007). Also returning from the original film series is actress Julia Stiles (The Omen, Silver Linings Playbook), who is joined by newcomers Alicia Vikander (Ex Machina, The Man from UNCLE), Tommy Lee Jones (No Country For Old Men, Lincoln), Vincent Cassel (Ocean’s Twelve, Black Swan), Riz Ahmed (Nightcrawler, Star Wars: Rogue One), and Ato Essandoh (Blood Diamond, Django Unchained). No details are yet available on the plot, except that Tommy Lee Jones plays the new CIA station chief attempting to track down Jason Bourne, who disappeared at the conclusion of The Bourne Ultimatum. The movie is expected in theaters on July 29th. Check out the new trailer here on MADE.

New Drama ‘Joy’ With Jennifer Lawrence and Bradley Cooper Now Playing In Theaters

A new drama featuring recurring co-stars Jennifer Lawrence (The Hunger Games, X-Men: Days of Future Past) and Bradley Cooper (The Hangover, American Sniper) titled Joy is now playing in theaters nationwide. The two stars are again directed by writer/director David O. Russell (American Hustle, Silver Linings Playbook), in the story of Joy Mangano, the woman who invented the Miracle Mop and became the matriarch of her family business and dynasty, but not before she encounters betrayal and treachery on her way to success. Also joining the two co-stars is their third recurring co-star Robert DeNiro (Goodfellas, Casino), with actors Edgar Ramirez (Vantage Point, The Liberator), Diane Ladd (Chinatown, Christmas Vacation), Virginia Madsen (Sideways, Firewall), and Isabella Rossellini (Fearless, Enemy). This is the fourth consecutive film in four years that Lawrence and Cooper have starred in together, and the third that also features DeNiro in the supporting cast. Lawrence and Cooper first appeared together in Silver Linings Playbook (which featured DeNiro) in 2012, and then American Hustle (DeNiro had a small part in this feature) in 2013, followed by Serena in 2014, and now Joy for 2015, which once again features DeNiro. This is also the third outing for director Russell with all three actors appearing in the featured cast, and according to the stars, we can expect even more to be forthcoming! Some may be frowning at the fact that these actors continue to appear in the same films, but their on-screen chemistry is excellent and all of these features have been Oscar and/or Golden Globe contenders, with the exception of Serena. Coupled with the fact that Russell is an original storyteller, I personally am hoping to see more features from this team of talented filmmakers, but we’ll have to wait for further updates to know for sure. Stay tuned!

First Full-Length Trailer For Bryan Singer’s ‘X-Men: Apocalypse’ Now Available

Last week we caught the first full length trailer for DC Comics’ upcoming Batman Vs Superman: Dawn of Justice. This week, however, Marvel has just rolled out a new trailer for Bryan Singer‘s new (and potentially last) installment in the X-Men film series, subtitled Apocalypse. The film follows the new timeline that was established at the conclusion of Days of Future Past, and finds the young generation of X-Men facing an ancient mutant known as Apocalypse, who has the power to destroy civilization as we know it. Original X-Men director Bryan Singer, who also directed X2: X-Men United and Days of Future Past, returned to direct and co-write the screenplay with Simon Kinberg (X-Men: The Last Stand, Sherlock Holmes), along with help from Michael Dougherty and Dan Harris (X2: X-Men United, Superman Returns). Actors James McAvoy (Wanted, X-Men: First Class), Michael Fassbender (Steve Jobs, Macbeth), Jennifer Lawrence (Silver Linings Playbook, American Hustle), and Nicholas Hoult (About A Boy, Mad Max: Fury Road) are all returning to reprise their roles from Days of Future Past, and will be joined on screen by newcomers Sophie Turner (Game of Thrones, Barely Lethal), Tye Sheridan (Mud, The Tree of Life), Rose Byrne (Get Him To The Greek, Neighbors), who is reprising her role as CIA agent Moira MacTaggert from Days of Future Past, and Oscar Isaac (Inside Llewyn Davis, A Most Violent Year) in the role of Apocalypse. The film is expected out in theaters Memorial Day weekend 2016. Enjoy the trailer here on MADE.

New Big-Screen Adaptation of Moby Dick Titled ‘In The Heart of the Sea’ Opening In Theaters This December 11th

A modern big screen adaptation of Herman Melville’s epic adventure Moby Dick titled In The Heart of the Sea is opening in theaters this Friday, December 11th. Written for the screen by Charles Leavitt (K-PAX, Blood Diamond) and writing team Rick Jaffa and Amanda Silver (Dawn of the Planet of the Apes, Jurassic World), the film takes the classic tale, based on a real-life maritime disaster in the West Pacific in 1820, to new heights, utilizing stunning visual effects to show the initial series of confrontations leading up to the whale’s sinking of the Essex and the aftermath the crew had to endure in the open sea, with no ship, no food, and no fresh water. While trying to survive, the crew members begin to question both the morality of their trade and the value of life, as captain and first mate collide on their efforts to either survive, or kill the vengeance-driven whale. Starring in the film are actors Chris Hemsworth (Thor, The Avengers), Benjamin Walker (Flags of Our Fathers, Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter), Cillian Murphy (28 Days Later, Inception), Brendan Gleeson (Gangs of New York, Cold Mountain), and Ben Whishaw (I’m Not There, Spectre), working under the direction of Oscar-winning filmmaker Ron Howard (Apollo 13, A Beautiful Mind). Although Melville’s tale is more publicly recognized as the source material for the film, In The Heart of the Sea is actually a real book by Nathaniel Philbrick, drawing on further details regarding the sinking of the Nantucket-based Essex and the survival of the crew members after the ship sank. Out of 21 who initially entered the water after the ship went down, only 8 would live to recount the event. I would definitely give this one some consideration, especially with a great director like Howard tackling such time-tested material. The trailer is available here on MADE. Enjoy!

Actor Bradley Cooper (Silver Linings Playbook, American Hustle) stars as chef Adam Jones, with actors Sienna Miller (American Sniper, Foxcatcher), Daniel Bruhl (Inglorious Basterds, Rush), Ricardo Scamarcio (My Brother is an Only Child, Loose Cannons), Omar Sy (X-Men: Days of Future Past, Jurassic World), Emma Thompson (Love Actually, Saving Mr. Banks), Uma Thurman (Pulp Fiction, Kill Bill Vol. 1), and Alicia Vikander (Ex Machina, The Man From UNCLE).
