As gentrification continues to transform Chicago’s Milwaukee avenue corridor, Logan Square has benefited nicely from all of the new developments. One venue that has emerged as a weekly go to is the East Room. Conveniently located right on Milwaukee, it’s becoming one of our favorite places to check out music in the city. Tonight, Aux Cord DJs will feature music from Show You Suck, Dayggs, These Days, Hellakyra, and Fake Important; a solid line for NO COVER. This one is 21+, click the link below for more information.
Location: 1035 N Western Avenue, Chicago When: Monday, February 8th @ 9PM
The Empty Bottle is one of the venues in Chicago that has a special place in my heart, whether it’s their Windy City Soul nights or some of the Red Bull Sound Select events they’ve thrown; these guys are awesome. Tonight, Chicago’s own Show You Suck will headline a show with opening performances from DethBeds, Black Matt and Blunt, a solid lineup especially for FREE.99.
Show You Suck is preparing for a big show this Wednesday for the first night of Reaction’s 2 day New Year’s Eve bash. The Chicago veteran took to Twitter yesterday to release a new freestyle titled “OH LORDT.” The up tempo instrumental fits Show’s flamboyant style well, he always knows how to ride the beats that’ll have the crowd rocking. Reminiscent of some of his Mike Jaxx collaborations, “OH LORDT” is a record we hope comes to full fruition, check it out below and keep an eye out for Larp Lord 316 (live album) which drops at 10PM.
NYC’s own Mishka took to their Soundcloud last night to release a new track by Show You Suck. Produced by Mike Jaxx, the high energy record rattles along like the spookiest of horror films. The dynamic duo of Show You Suck and Mike Jaxx is something like Penny & Shaq or Gary Payton & Shawn Kemp; EVERY TIME i see “Mike Jaxx” on the production credits I already know it’s a banger. “R.A.D” is no different, a track that will no doubt have the crowd going nuts at Show’s next event. Check out “R.A.D” below and keep an eye out for more from Show You Suck.

Fool’s Gold co-founder and all around awesome producer Nick Catchdubs recently linked up with Chicago’s own Show You Suck on a record titled “Drop.” After receiving a ton of good feedback the track now has an official video and as you’d expect, it’s pretty awesome. The high energy instrumental suits Show You Suck’s style well and the seizure inducing visual captures all of the madness. Check out the video for “Drop” above and be on the look out for more from Nick Catchdubs & Show You Suck.
Although the first installment of the All City series may have been more expansive, All City Vol. 2 takes a larger look at Minneapolis & Chicago’s hip hop scenes, while still incorporating a few other national artists. 2014 has been a great year for music in both Chicago & Minneapolis, with a lot of creativity brewing in the Mid-West. All City Vol. 2 takes some of our favorites from Chicago, Minneapolis and other cities across the nation. Check out the compilation below and keep an eye out for the All City feature.
Nick Catchdubs (Fool’s Gold Co-Founder) recently dropped his debut album, Smoke Machine, among the many bangers lies this jam featuring Show You Suck. Show has been quite vocal in the past about how much he admires/appreciates the good people at Fool’s Gold, so it’s awesome to see him finally get to work with them; it’s like whatever this dude says comes true. The high energy instrumental suits the Chicago MC well, a perfect party record for the approaching summer months. Signature Show You Suck all over this record, check out “Drop” below and stay tuned for more.
