2017 Tribeca Film Festival Is Now Underway

The 16th annual Tribeca Film Festival is once again underway in New York City. Entries in this year’s festival include films from 28 countries, which are being shown from April 19th to April 30th. The festival has already seen a fair share of controversy this year. Photographers and reporters were incensed to find some lesser known actors walking on the red carpet wearing masks of James Franco, Shia LaBeouf, and Greta Gerwig instead of the actors themselves for the premiere of the film Flames. In addition, a commercial for United Airlines, which was originally scheduled to appear at the festival, was pulled from the line up after the controversy surrounding Dr. David Dao being violently dragged off one of their flights. Despite a fair share of controversy, which has always been typical of the Hollywood scene, there have been some impressive displays at this year’s festivities. Continue reading

Nike SB Dunk Low “Ishod Wair”

Nike SB has had a quiet start to the year, but one clean pair of kicks they’ve released comes in the form of a rider edition. Ishod Wair rides for SB and was recently blessed with his own kicks, the black leather on black suede falling nicely behind the graphite swoosh. A solid pair of black sneaks that should last you through the year, these are currently available in store at Cal-Surf for $95; stop by if you like what you see.

All signs point to a big finish in 2016 for Jordan Brand. The sneaker giant has 3 major releases in December including the above “Suede” premiums 11s. These dropped exclusively through 2 retailers a couple of weeks ago, but it appears that they will be going global on December 23rd. The $400 price tag might provide collectors strapped for cash with a few tough decisions, check back in for more info as we get closer to the release date.

There’s no denying that Jordan Brand is the king of holiday releases, year after year. They’ve had a few back to back strong years as of late, but it looks like they’ll be swinging for the fences in 2016. Arguably one of the hottest shoes to ever grace retail shelves, the “Space Jam” XIs will surely be a sought after item when they release this holiday season. That’s right, Jordan Brand recently announced that the “Jams” will see a December 17th release date and will retail for $220. Mark your calendars and be sure to stay tuned for more info.

Nike SB recently gifted the world with their latest Dunk High release. It’s hard to believe that it took them this long to drop a black suede High with a gum bottom, a welcome addition to any sneaker aficionado’s collection. These should start popping up at your local SB retailers any day now, expect them to retail near $100.

Nike SB is planning to kick 2016 off with a bang, they recently announced the release of a new dunk low dubbed the “Bigfoot.” One look at the shoe proves the name is no fluke, brown suede sits atop a tan sole (not an actual gum sole) making for a safe, but clean colorway. Not too many concrete details regarding these, but word around town is these can be expected on shelves in mid-January.

Nike SB recently linked up with 2 Cincinnati skate shops on a pair of dunks commemorating Cinci’s World Series win in 1990. That year the final series came down to the Oakland A’s and the Reds, Cinci would go on to sweep Oak-town with ease serving as one of the most devastating World Series’ in recent (semi) history. Both kicks are suited in each teams colors with the high dressed in A’s green & yellow, while the low is dressed in Red’s colors with champion gold linings. History buffs will appreciate the American flags on each heel paying homage to the beginning of the Gulf War which coincided with the World Series. Premier x Nike Dunk SB Low “Fish Ladder”

Nike SB and legendary Michigan skate shop Premier will once again link up on a pair of Nike kicks set to release this weekend. No stranger to Nike collabs, Premier skate shop is easily among the nations best. Their most recent collaboration commemorates Fish Ladder Park and the rigorous journey that salmon must take to reproduce. The kicks feature the now classic salmon steak print on the toe and even a scaley looking swoosh, clean yet flashy at the same damn time. The dunk lows will retail for $100 while the Janoski Max versions will retail for $110, these will be available via Premier starting on Saturday, November 14th. Undefeated and Nike surprised everyone this week with the announcement that they’ll be releasing yet another Dunk collaboration. No real information was given about the release in advance and there still is no official U.S. release date set either. For those looking to cop you’ll have to head to overseas purveyors like Solebox or Titolo. These have just the right amount of retro touch keeping them clean. At €160 ($175), the Undefeated x Nike Dunk Lux will go on sale November 5th at select retailers like those mentioned above.
