This Valentine’s Day weekend will see plenty of big screen features released for you and your date to go and see for your big date night outings. First up is the new comic-book adaptation for Deadpool with Ryan Reynolds (Safe House, Self/Less) and Morena Baccarin (Heartland, Spy), which, considering it’s an R-rated comic adaptation, has many fans waiting in high anticipation for last night’s midnight showing. The second up is the long awaited comedy sequel Zoolander 2, featuring Ben Stiller (Dodgeball, Meet the Parents), Owen Wilson (Old School, Wedding Crashers), Penelope Cruz (Blow, Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides), Kristen Wiig (Bridesmaids, The Secret Life of Walter Mitty), Benedict Cumberbatch (The Imitation Game, Black Mass), and Will Ferrell (Superstar, Anchorman: The Legend of Ron Burgundy). Long-Anticipated ‘Deadpool’ Opening In Theaters This Friday

Fans of Marvel films like Guardians of the Galaxy and Ant Man have been waiting with high anticipation for the release of Deadpool since last year’s Comic-Con celebration in San Diego. The new film stars Ryan Reynolds (Safe House, Self/Less) as former Special Forces operative Wade Wilson, who, after being subjected to a rogue military experiment, turns mercenary as he discovers he has accelerated healing abilities. Also starring in the film are actors Morena Baccarin (Heartland, Spy), TJ Miller (Transformers: Age of Extinction, Silicon Valley), and Stefan Kapicic (Tears for Sale, Big Miracle) as the voice of Colossus. The film is directed by visual effects producer Tim Miller from a script by co-writers Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick (GI Joe: Retaliation, Zombieland). The trailer for the movie is here on MADE. After a successful panel at this year’s Comic-Con in San Diego, we now have a full-length trailer for the upcoming comic-action movie Deadpool, which unlike many of the comic films these days, will be rated R. The film stars Ryan Reynolds (Green Lantern, Self/less) in the title role of Wade Wilson/Deadpool, a former Special Forces operative who undergoes an unconventional experiment that provides him with accelerated tissue regeneration (like a Frankenstein version of Wolverine) and vows to seek out those who nearly took his life. Director Tim Miller (Scott Pilgrim Vs. The World, Mass Effect 2) helmed the project from a script by writing-team Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick (Zombieland, The Joe Schmo Show). Starring alongside Reynolds are actors T.J. Miller (Big Hero 6, Silicon Valley), Gina Carano (Haywire, Fast & Furious 6), Brianna Hildebrand (Prism, First Girl I Loved), Morena Baccarin (Homeland, Spy), and Ed Skrein (Game of Thrones, The Transporter Refueled). The movie is expected to open in theaters in February 2016. Check out the new trailer at the link below, which aired on Conan this week, and stay tuned for more forthcoming news!

‘Self/Less’ And ‘The Gallows’ Opening In Theaters This July 10th

Movie-goers will have plenty of choices when it comes to suspense in this week’s new releases. First up is the new dramatic thriller Self/Less from director Tarsem Singh (Immortals, Mirror Mirror), starring Sir Ben Kingsley (Schindler’s List, Shutter Island) and Ryan Reynolds (Safe-House, Woman in Gold). The film comes from screenwriting brothers David and Alex Pastor (Carriers, The Last Days) and also stars Natalie Martinez (End of Watch, Broken City) and Matthew Goode (Watchmen, The Imitation Game). You can watch the trailer above. Also coming out this week is a new horror flick, The Gallows, following a group of high school students who attempt to pay tribute to a horrific accident that took place at the school 20 years earlier, only to find the spirits of those dead still remain in the shadows. I’m sure you have already seen a bunch of previews for this one on TV, and while it entails new subject matter, it looks essentially like a Blair Witch Project meets Michael Myers mix, with relatively unknown actors and producers. That being said, this is the kind of movie you should definitely watch in the theaters for the full effect, so find yourself a date and enjoy!

‘Jurassic World’ Holds Box-Office Spot Through July 4th Weekend

On top of all the music, ribs, and firework festivals that occurred over the 4th of July weekend, movie-goers were still flocking to the cinemas to see the new breed of dinosaurs in Colin Trevorrow’s Jurassic World. The film brought in another $30.9 million over the holiday weekend, beating out Pixar’s Inside Out with Amy Pohler (Parks and Recreation, Saturday Night Live) and Terminator: Genisys with Arnold Schwarzenegger (Predator, True Lies) and Emilia Clarke (Game of Thrones, Dom Hemingway). Thus far the film has grossed $558 million worldwide, and with nothing too impressive coming out this week (Self/Less does look interesting, but I doubt a lot of people will pay money to see it in theaters), I wouldn’t be surprised if it holds the top spot for another week, and potentially another after that. If you haven’t seen it yet, it might be time to consider catching a matinee, and if you are wondering about how the film plays out, feel free to check out World’s MADE-Review at the link below. Enjoy!

Quentin Tarantino Sues Gawker Media For Leaking ‘Crazy Eight’ Script

tarantino

Last week we heard that Django Unchained director Quentin Tarantino had decided to drop his next project, The Hateful Eight, until he decided how to proceed with the newly finished script. The script was leaked onto the internet after Tarantino had given several copies to potential actors he was interested in for the new film. A few names he mentioned included actors Bruce Dern, Michael Madsen, and Tim Roth, who have all worked with the director on several of past projects. Now Tarantino has filed several lawsuits against Gawker Media for copyright infringement, each suit priced at a hefty one million dollars. The suit claims “Gawker Media knowingly and actively acted as a promoter of copyright pirates, and, itself, did directly cause, contribute to, enable, and facilitate copyright infringement.” Gawker posted a URL link to their site that allowed viewers to download the script. Tarantino also stated that Gawker “crossed the journalistic line by promoting itself to the public as the first source to read the entire screenplay immediately,” and slammed the site for promoting illegal pirating and immoral journalism. The director is being represented by Martin Singer, Henry Self, and Evan Spiegel at Lavely & Singer.
