The silent dance party has become more and more popular throughout the U.S., but we’ve yet to hear of one going down at a notable location in the Twin Cities. DJ Keezy plans to change that this Friday with “SHHH: Silent Dance Party” at the Nomad. For those who are unfamiliar, silent dance parties usually feature 2 DJs playing at the same time while everyone wears headphones to listen in. The headphones usually have a switch which allows the listeners to flip between the 2 DJs. This event has a STACKED lineup of DJs including Sophia Eris, Tiiiiiiiiiip, Keith Millions, and Sarah White. This one is 21+ to enter and the door is only $10, if you’re looking for something different to do this weekend, look no further.
Memorial Day weekend is coming up quickly, so it’s time to start making plans. Rhymesayer’s annual Soundset Music Festival usually takes the cake, but the Twin Cities still offer a TON of other options over that weekend. Memory Lanes’ annual block party is always one of the year’s better neighborhood get togethers. This year’s musical lineups don’t disappoint with a whooping 20+ acts on the bill spread across 2 days. The weekend will include performances from Dillinger Four, Black Market Brass, JC Brooks, Sarah White, Crunchy Kids, and Tony Peachka to name a few. The lanes will be open and the Summit beers will be on deck, these are family friendly until 10PM, when the party turns 21+ inside. Both days will run you $5 or you could stop by after 10PM for free entry, we suggest you cough up the $5. Click the link below for more information. Memory Lanes Block Party 2017 via Facebook
26 Bats! will bring their eclectic sound to the Icehouse tonight for the release of their new album Cave Cuts. The event looks like one of the most promising of the week with opening performances from Sarah White and Tony the Scribe. This one is 21+ and tickets are still available for only $6 ($8 @ door), click the link below to buy yours now.
Sarah White finished off 2016 with the release of a new video for her record titled “Sweet Song.” Directed by Jovante Williams, the visual is striking to say the least. White’s voice glides over the dynamic instrumental holding all parts together like an adhesive. Cameos abound, the visual’s climax sees Sarah and her companion (deM atlaS) enthralled in each other, until finally giving into the electric energy around them. Check out the video for yourself above and keep an eye out for more from Sarah White.
Next Friday, the Crunchy Kids will hold their highly anticipated EP release show for Crop. The lineup for this one is absolutely stacked with performances from Doks Robotiks, DJ Sarah White and more than a few special guests. If you happened to hit up Chance York’s release party earlier this week then you already know this will also be a great night. A family affair as far as sponsors, this event is 21+ and the door is only $8, click the link below for more info.
Tonight is looking like the kick off to yet another great weekend in the Twin Cities. If you aren’t going to The Cabooze tonight you should consider Greenroom Magazine’s first event in their 3 part “Sessions” series. Each session will feature a different cast of artists and genres as well as a new venue; this time around performances will include Bones & Beeker, Mina Moore, Kwey and a DJ set from Sarah White. Solid to say the least, this event is 21+ and the door will be $10, if you’re interested make sure to get there earlier rather than later. For more info on the next 2 sessions click the link below.
The good people over at Studiiyo 23 will celebrate their 5th anniversary this weekend with a massive block party. Not only will they be hosting the stacked lineup of Finding Novyon, Greg Grease, Metasota, BdotCroc, Sarah White, Bionik and special guests Mike The Martyr & DJ Low; they’ll also be throwing their 6th Sneaker & Arts Exchange. This event has flown a little under the radar but we guarantee that it will not disappoint, there will be plenty of things to get into for all ages. That being said make sure you drink responsibly around the youngins, mark your calenders and stay tuned for more.
