Location: 1265 Snelling Avenue N, St. Paul (State Fair Grounds) When: Sunday, May 27th // 11AM-9PM
Rhymesayer’s annual Soundset Festival will once again take over the Minnesota State Fairgrounds for what should be yet another good time. Although some people were a tad upset with last minute no shows and randomly switching set times, last year’s event ended up being solid for the most part; especially for anyone who stayed for Travis Scott’s headlining set. This year, once again, the lineup features a very eclectic roster including headliners Erykah Badu, Migos, and Logic; as well as sets from Tyler The Creator, Ice T, Brockhampton, Wu-Tang Clan, and Jaden Smith among others. Soundset has always been about more than just music, so make sure to check out the live graffiti section, car show, and B Boy/B Girl dance off. Soundset is all ages and it appears that VIP passes are already sold out. General admission tickets are still available for the base price of $82 ($97 after fees), but will surely rise as we get closer to the event. The good people from Rhymesayers announced the lineup for their annual Soundset Music Festival awhile back and it doesn’t disappoint. Last year was the first year at the Minnesota State Fairgrounds and the event proved to be a huge success. This year’s festival features another STACKED lineup with performances from Ms Lauryn Hill, Gucci Mane, Travi$ Scott, T.I., Lil Uzi Vert, Pusha T, Talib Kweli, and Denzel Curry among MANY others. Locals on this years lineup include the stand4rd, Nazeem & Spencer Joles, Mod Sun, Zuluzuluu, Sophia Eris, and J. Plaza, all of whom deserve their respective slots. General admission tickets are currently available for $84, but VIP passes are already SOLD OUT. Although general admission will probably not sell out, ticket prices increase as we get closer to the event date; it would be wise to purchase your tickets sooner rather than later. This weekend is looking like a glorious one for anyone in the Twin Cities. Not only will we celebrate the life of the late great Prince, Record Store Day festivities will also be plentiful across the metro. One of the more notable RSD events is Fifth Element/Rhymesayer’s annual sale at their headquarters in Uptown. This year they’ll be offering 20% of select vinyls and up to 50% off select CDs, they will also have a boat load of merch and used vinyl to dig through. If that wasn’t enough, there will also be live sets from DJ Keezy, Destiny Roberts, Nazeem & Spencer Joles, and DJ Just Nine. This event is free and open to all ages, make sure to come early if you’re serious about scoring some of the hotter deals.

Throughout the day you’ll see performances from Greg Grease, Andrew Broder, Freez & Mike Frey, UpRock and Crescent Moon; we wouldn’t be surprised if a few special guests appear.
