The cheeseburger is about as American as it gets, whether you’re kickin back at a dive bar or eating at one of the fanciest places in town, you’re sure to find one on the menu. As we all know, Minneapolis is home to a unique brand of burger, the Jucy Lucy. While Marquee restaurants like Matt’s Bar and 5-8’s Club fight over inventors rights, one place in the Twin Cities has created an entirely new lane for the cheese-filled burgers. The Blue Door Pub has quickly risen the ranks to becoming the “go to” place to get “Minneapolis’ burger” or the popular blue-cheese filled Blucy, the good people at The Blue Door are taking things to the next level. The original St. Paul location is great (a tad small), but Minneapolis’ Longfellow location has them beat by a mile. The dining room is much larger resulting in shorter wait times and a more enjoyable atmosphere. Throw in $2 drafts from local brewers (Indeed, Summit) during happy hour (2PM-5PM) and a clear cut winner starts to emerge. The menu is chalk full of tasty Frankenstein like burgers, take the “Hawaiian” for example. This Jucy Lucy comes stuffed with pineapple, Canadian bacon and mozzarella cheese making for an extremely daunting sight when placed in front of you. Bacon Lucy? Sure, stuffed with cheddar and bacon it’s definitely a favorite among regulars. All in all, The Blue Door Pub is for the adventurous; Matt’s Bar retains it’s true spot as THE home of the Jucy Lucy, but The Blue Door Pub is for people who want to spice things up. If you’re ever in the Longfellow area, or if you some how manage to get a table in St. Paul; stop in and grab yourself one of the Cities’ best burgers.

This Thursday marks the finale of Phillip Morris’ feature on Nomad World Pub’s “Minneseries”. We attended the first of the Minneseries shows and it was a great time, the event is free also so being strapped for cash is no excuse either.

Tonight Surly will be invading Nomad with seven of its finest brews. If you are around these parts make sure to swing by, because these only happen ever so often. Nomad will feature these 7 taps by Surly: SEVIIN, El Hefe Negro, Darkness, Dumpster Fire, Abrasive, Cacao Bender, and Furious. A few of these brews are hard to find, especially on tap at bars, so make sure to get them while you can.
While you are downing some tasty brews, Foolproof will kick the night off right with some music around 9pm, so get down and to party.

No idea why we didn’t give you guys a better heads up on this show, but here it is. K.Raydio & Psymun will be headlining a show tonight at the Nomad World Pub, the event will also feature the musical talents of Isadore, Word on the Street & The Marcellas rounding out what’s looking to be a great night. The Nomad is a pretty dope venue and the fact that K.Raydio & Psymun are headlining only makes it better. This one’s 21+ (sorry kids) and is only $5 so if you don’t have any plans you should definitely hit this one up. There’s a lot going on this weekend so keep it locked here for more to come.

It’s almost that time, Minneapolis’ Zombie Pub Crawl is unmatched in the world and is only 1 week away. Amidst all the mayhem and drunken debauchery you may actually want to check out some dope music…because there is sure to be a lot of it. Marijuana Death Squads will be taking over The Red Sea for an afternoon of non-stop action at their own stage, this should definitely be one of the more entertaining shows over the entire weekend and you’ll only be able to see it with a Pub Crawl wrist band. Beware, even if you do have a wristband you should get their early; they’ll stop letting people in once they hit capacity.
Location: 501 Cedar Ave S When: Saturday, September 21st
Last year marked the beginning of a new movement in Minneapolis’ music scene, the Hip Hop Harambee was born bringing together some of the Twin City’s hottest artists. This time around the festival will feature Big K.R.I.T, Shabazz Palaces, Devin the Dude, Toki Wright, Lizzo & Lazerbeak just to name a few. Some of this years’ sponsors include Mesa Pizza, HomeGrown, Green Room & City Pages so you can call it a family affair, if you’re in the Twin Cities and have nothing to do; this is where you should be hands down. Advance tickets are still available and are set at $20 while tickets will cost an extra $5 ($25) at the door. The MADE family will definitely be in attendance, we’ll have a full recap up following the event for those that can’t make the madness.
