Location: 701 1st Avenue N, Minneapolis When: Wednesday, October 14th @ 6PM
The Underachievers recently kicked off the North American segment of their world tour, with 33 stops in 43 nights they’ve got A LOT of work ahead. They’ll be in Minneapolis and Chicago this week with the Minneapolis event falling Wednesday. First Avenue’s main room should provide the perfect backdrop for openers Pouya and The Buffet Boys, Kirk Knight and Bodega Bamz. This one is all ages and general admission tickets are still available for $18, you can also snag Pouya Meet & Greets for $60 or Underachiever Meet & Greets for $75. Miami’s own Pouya recently took to Twitter to drop a new song titled “Heed.” Produced by Cian P, the jazzy, horn heavy track features the likes of Alex Wiley and Allan Kingdom. A trio to be reckoned with, all 3 of these artists are buzzing hard in their respective cities. “Heed” feels like an experiment among friends, the record isn’t as cohesive as one would like, but it’s still well worth a few spins. If this is what these guys call a “loose” record, we can’t wait to see what else is in the vault. Check out “Heed” above and make sure to keep an eye out for all 3 of these artists, you can expect to see a lot more of these guys in the near future.
Miami has quietly become one of the nations hottest cities for music festivals. One that all hip hop fans should be aware of is the upcoming “Rolling Loud” Festival set to go down at Soho Studios. The one day fest has an insane lineup with performances from Schoolboy Q, Travi$ Scott, Action Bronson, Juicy J, Curren$y, and A$AP Ferg to name a few. A few hometown artists even made the cut including Allan Kingdom, Kembe X, Alex Wiley, and Lucki Eck$. The event is all ages and general admission tickets are available for $70, pit tickets are $100. A diverse lineup with a bunch of current and future stars, “Rolling Loud” might just go down as one of the year’s best festivals, click the link below for tickets. (Allan Kingdom is no longer on the lineup)
Last week, Miami’s own Pouya was in Minneapolis for a show at the Red Sea. The Florida rapper was joined by Yung Simmie and Fat Nick, by the looks of things the crew had a good time. A mutual respect between Allan Kingdom and Pouya can be traced via Twitter so it comes as no surprise that the two got in the studio during Pouya’s stop. All 3 artists get down on this record, with Bobby Raps providing a verse as well as the production. A cool collab, those in Miami might be lucky enough to catch this one live during the “Rolling Loud” Music Festival on the 28th.
Florida’s hip hop scene has been booming as of late with a recent, Bone Thugs influenced resurgence. Aside from the Raider Klan, another artist making noise is Pouya, a young MC who might have you doing and double take. Some would say the kid’s as trill as they come, others would call him a wannabe; we’re on the former side of the debate. Despite heavy criticism, Pouya’s fan base continues to grow and that’s a testament to his work ethic. An associate of Michael Rocks & Robb Bank$, Pouya is steadily maneuvering the wide open underground scene like a champ, check out “Social Experiment” above and keep it locked here for more from Pouya.
