Watch The Full-Length Trailer For ‘Life’ With Jake Gyllenhaal and Ryan Reynolds

There were a lot of raise-your-eyebrow commercials at this year’s Super Bowl, and sadly they were much more memorable than any of the traditional, so-called “hilarious” Super Bowl entries. The most controversial entries was the lengthy 84 Lumber commercial where mother and daughter encounter a giant concrete wall on the US border, and the American Petroleum Institutes praise-spot for Big Oil. In addition to the barrage of propagandized TV spots and beer commercials were a number of upcoming blockbuster movie trailers. Among them were those for The Fate of the Furious, Baywatch, Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales, Guardians of the Galaxy Volume 2, John Wick: Chapter 2, and Transformers: The Last Knight. The most impressive movie trailer, however, came from up-and-coming director Daniel Espinosa‘s Life with Jake Gyllenhaal (Prisoners, Nightcrawler), Rebecca Ferguson (Mission Impossible: Rogue Nation, The Girl on the Train), and Ryan Reynolds (Waiting, Safe House). With Star Wars: The Force Awakens opening in theaters nationwide tomorrow, you can expect movie theaters to be jam-packed this weekend with old and new generation fans alike. There are, however, a number of smaller, independent projects coming out this weekend that we like to take the time to shine the spotlight on. The first is a new war drama titled Son of Saul (originally Saul fia) from writer/director Laszlo Nemes (The Counterpart, The Gentlemen Takes His Leave), which received excellent recognition at this year’s Cannes Film Festival. Taking place in the Nazi concentration camp, Auschwitz, in 1944, the film follows a prisoner who attempts to find redemption by saving a boy he adopts as his son from the furnaces of the camp that he has been forced to subject many of his own people to. Starring in the film are actors Geza Rohrig, Levente Molnar (Morgen, Our Big Time), Urs Rechn (Eight Miles High, The King’s Surrender), and Todd Charmont (The Last of the Mohicans, Strangers). After a successful panel at this year’s Comic-Con in San Diego, we now have a full-length trailer for the upcoming comic-action movie Deadpool, which unlike many of the comic films these days, will be rated R. The film stars Ryan Reynolds (Green Lantern, Self/less) in the title role of Wade Wilson/Deadpool, a former Special Forces operative who undergoes an unconventional experiment that provides him with accelerated tissue regeneration (like a Frankenstein version of Wolverine) and vows to seek out those who nearly took his life. Director Tim Miller (Scott Pilgrim Vs. The World, Mass Effect 2) helmed the project from a script by writing-team Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick (Zombieland, The Joe Schmo Show). Starring alongside Reynolds are actors T.J. Miller (Big Hero 6, Silicon Valley), Gina Carano (Haywire, Fast & Furious 6), Brianna Hildebrand (Prism, First Girl I Loved), Morena Baccarin (Homeland, Spy), and Ed Skrein (Game of Thrones, The Transporter Refueled). The movie is expected to open in theaters in February 2016. Check out the new trailer at the link below, which aired on Conan this week, and stay tuned for more forthcoming news!
