Ridley Scott’s ‘The Martian’ With Matt Damon Now Playing In Theaters

Fresh off its last festival stop at the Toronto International Film Festival, the latest blockbuster from Oscar-winner Ridley Scott (Gladiator, Prometheus), The Martian, is now playing in theaters across the country. Based on the book by author Andy Weir, the film features an all-star cast led by Matt Damon (The Bourne Identity, The Departed), including Jessica Chastain (Interstellar, A Most Violent Year), Kristen Wiig (Bridesmaids, The Secret Life of Walter Mitty), Jeff Daniels (Speed, The Newsroom), Michael Pena (End of Watch, Fury), Sean Bean (The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring, Game of Thrones), Kate Mara (House of Cards, Captive), and Chiwetel Ejiofor (Children of Men, 12 Years A Slave). Screenwriter Drew Goddard (Cloverfield, World War Z) adapted the script from Weir’s book about an astronaut who becomes stranded on Mars and must survive against all odds in order to return to his family on Earth. New Horror Film From Eli Roth ‘The Green Inferno’ Opening In Theaters This Week

It’s been a while since director Eli Roth (Cabin Fever, Hostel) has had a new project on the big screen, but now his latest drama titled The Green Inferno is opening in theaters this week. Written by Roth and Guillermo Amoedo (Aftershock, Knock Knock), the film follows a group of volunteers who venture to the Amazon rainforest in order to help preserve it, until a group of natives discovers them and their trip of “good intentions” quickly turns into a nightmare. Starring in the film are Eli Roth regulars Lorenza Izzo (Que pena tu Familia, Aftershock), Ariel Levy (Fuerzas Especiales, Aftershock), Aaron Burns (Grindhouse, Machete), Kirby Bliss Blanton (Scar, Project X), and Magda Apanowicz (The Butterfly Effect, A Reason). The trailer looks pretty suspenseful, and knowing Roth’s style I’m sure there will be a great amount of gore layered over with a grim sense of humor, so it should be an entertaining watch nevertheless. The trailer is available here on MADE. Enjoy!

‘Vacation’ Sequel/Reboot Adds More Cast Members As Production Continues

The upcoming reboot of the comedy classic from National Lampoon, Vacation, is already well into production, but Variety has reported that four new cast members have just been added to the line-up. Comedic talents Tim Heidecker (Tim & Eric, Awesome Show, Great Work), Nick Kroll (The League, Kroll Show), Michael Pena (End of Watch, American Hustle), and Kaitlin Olson (It’s Always Sunny In Philadelphia) are all set to appear in the upcoming film that already has Ed Helms and Christina Applegate leading the cast. Chris Hemsworth and Leslie Mann are also expected to appear in the film, along with Chevy Chase and Beverly D’Angelo, who appeared as Clark and Ellen Griswold in the original 1983 classic. Jonathan Goldstein and John Francis Daley will be co-directing behind the camera. The movie is expected in theaters on October 9, 2015.

Jeff Daniels Is Taking A Role Alongside Matt Damon In Ridley Scott’s ‘The Martian’

With the release of Dumb and Dumber To drawing nearer as we approach the holidays, and the final season of HBO’s The Newsroom airing this fall, Jeff Daniels has had to fill his schedule for the upcoming 2015 calendar, and his new project seems a pretty good choice. Daniels will appear as the director of NASA alongside Matt Damon in director Ridley Scott’s upcoming space drama The Martian, which is scheduled for release next November. The story follows Damon as an astronaut stranded on Mars and his mission to survive until a rescue mission is sent to bring him back to Earth. Although this seems somewhat reminiscent of Brian DePalma’s Mission To Mars (2000), it should still make for a good watch. Scott is behind such films as Alien (1979), Blade Runner (1982), Gladiator (2000), Matchstick Men (2003), American Gangster (2007), Robin Hood (2010), and The Counselor (2013), and Jeff Daniels and Matt Damon are both highly versatile actors, with Daniels being known as much for his dramatic abilities as his comedic skills. Other names attached to the project include Jessica Chastain (The Help, Zero Dark Thirty), Kate Mara (House of Cards, Transcendence), Kristen Wiig (The Brothers Solomon, Despicable Me), and Michael Pena (The Lincoln Lawyer, American Hustle). We’ll look out for more news.
