Weinstein Company Drama ‘Tulip Fever’ Pushed Back to 2017

Producer Harvey Weinstein of the Weinstein Company has pushed back national release of his long anticipated drama Tulip Fever, based on the popular novel by Deborah Moggach, to a February 2017 release. The film has already seen several release delays; it was filmed back in 2014 and has since made no debuts at any of the film festival circuits or limited releases here in the States or elsewhere. Now, however, Weinstein seems to have settled on a post-Valentine’s Day release, going up against God Particle from producer J.J. Abrams (Star Trek, Star Wars: The Force Awakens) and Sleepless with Jaimie Fox (Ray, Collateral) and Michelle Monaghan (Gone Baby Gone, True Detective). Starring Oscar winners Alicia Vikander (El Machina, The Danish Girl) and Christoph Waltz (Inglorious Basterds, Django Unchained), the film follows an artist who falls for a married woman he is hired to paint in portrait in the midst of the tulip frenzy of 17th century Amsterdam. Steven Spielberg’s New Cold-War Drama ‘Bridge of Spies’ Opening In Theaters This Week

Finally after months of anticipation and sitting through rounds of film festivals around the globe, Oscar-winner Steven Spielberg‘s (Jaws, Saving Private Ryan) new Cold-War drama Bridge of Spies is opening on big screens across the country this week. Starring Spielberg-regular Tom Hanks (Catch Me If You Can, Forrest Gump) in the lead role, the film focuses on James B. Donovan, an attorney who was sent to Soviet Russia by the CIA in order to negotiate the release of suspected U-2 Spy Plane pilot Francis G. Powers. The script was originally penned by screenwriter Matt Charman, but was then re-worked by Oscar-winning filmmakers Joel and Ethan Coen (Oh Brother Where Art Thou?, No Country For Old Men) before Spielberg began the process of principle photography. Also starring in the film are actors Mark Rylance (The Other Boleyn Girl, Anonymous), Domenick Lombardozzi (Phone Booth, The Wire), Victor Verhaeghe (August Rush, The Wolf of Wall Street), Alan Alda (MASH, The Aviator), and Amy Ryan (Gone Baby Gone, Birdman or The Unexpected Virtue of Ignorance), with Austin Stowell (Behind the Candelabra, Whiplash) starring as Powell. This will be Spielberg’s first directorial project since 2012’s Lincoln, which earned the director two Oscar-nods for Best Director and Best Picture. Look for Bridge of Spies in theaters this Friday. The trailer is available here on MADE.

New Biographical Drama ‘Pawn Sacrifice’ Now Playing In Theaters

A new biopic from Oscar-winning director Edward Zwick (Blood Diamond, Love & Other Drugs), titled Pawn Sacrifice, is now playing in theaters nationwide. The script was penned by Oscar-nominated screenwriter Steven Knight (Locke, The Hundred-Foot Journey), and follows the life of American Chess champion Bobby Fischer as he prepares to face-off against the reigning Russian champion Boris Spassky. Starring in the film are actors Toby MacGuire (Spider-Man, Seabuscuit), Liev Schreiber (Scream, The Painted Veil), Robin Weigert (The Good German, Sons of Anarchy), Lily Rabe (No Reservations, All Good Things), and Peter Sarsgaard (Flightplan, Jarhead). The film is expected to be mainly a character study, but the match that the story is based on took place in 1972 during the height of the Cold War, which, all together, should make for a pretty impressive watch. The trailer is available here on MADE. Enjoy!

Steven Spielberg’s ‘Bridge of Spies’ Opening In Theaters October 16th

Steven Spielberg has been busy acting as producer to a number of projects since his last directorial feature Lincoln in 2012 with features like Transformers: Age of Extinction, The Hundred-Foot Journey, and Jurassic World. But fans will get to see his latest project featuring his Saving Private Ryan and Catch Me If You Can collaborating actor Tom Hanks open on big screens this October 16th. The film is titled Bridge of Spies and follows Hanks as attorney James Donovan, who was recruited to negotiate the release of Francis Gary Powers, a U-2 pilot who was shot down and held prisoner by the KGB under suspicion of espionage during the Cold War in 1960. Filmmaking brothers Joel and Ethan Coen (The Big Lebowski, No Country For Old Men) were brought on to rewrite the original screenplay before principle photography began on the film, which stars Amy Ryan (Gone Baby Gone, Birdman), Mark Rylance (The Other Boleyn Girl, Blitz), Austin Stowell (Love and Honor, Whiplash), and Alan Alda (MASH, The Aviator). Seeing as it was produced by Walt Disney Pictures, I think that Spielberg intentionally steered away from a lot of Restricted-content (and it did, in fact, receive a PG-13 rating), but with Hanks in the spotlight it should prove a solid endeavor all the same. Last time we heard about this one a poster had just become available via twitter, but now the full length trailer is available here on MADE! Enjoy!

New Poster Available For Upcoming Steven Spielberg Drama ‘Bridge of Spies’ With Tom Hanks

bridge

The upcoming drama from Oscar-winning director Steven Spielberg (Saving Private Ryan, Lincoln) and Walt Disney Pictures titled Bridge of Spies has just released a new poster to prep audiences for the upcoming October release. Working from a script that was revised for the final cut by Joel and Ethan Coen (The Big Lebowski, No Country For Old Men), Spielberg directs leading man Tom Hanks (Forrest Gump, The DaVinci Code) in the story of James Donovan, who negotiated the release of downed U-2 pilot Francis Gary Powers, who was being held under suspicion of espionage by the KGB in 1960. Also appearing in the film are actors Amy Ryan (Gone Baby Gone, Birdman), Mark Rylance (The Other Boleyn Girl, Blitz), Austin Stowell (Love and Honor, Whiplash), and Alan Alda (MASH, The Aviator). With a poster already out and seeing as we’re this far into post-production we should see a trailer release sometime in the near future. My biggest concern is that this is pretty adult-content subject matter for Disney to be covering… hopefully they’re letting Spielberg have most of the artistic control on this one. Stay tuned.

John Williams Will Score New Spielberg Drama ‘Bridge of Spies’ With Tom Hanks

Composer John Williams (left) and director Steven Spielberg (right) have worked together on more than 25 projects, including Jaws, Indiana Jones, E.T., Hook, Jurassic Park, Schindler’s List, and War of the Worlds.

The latest project from acclaimed director Steven Spielberg (Jaws, Saving Private Ryan) seems to be getting closer to completion as we approach it’s October release date. Now titled Bridge of Spies, the movie stars Oscar-winner Tom Hanks (Forrest Gump, Road to Perdition) as attorney James Donovan, who negotiated the release of KGB-held U-2 spy-plane pilot Francis Gary Powers after he was captured flying over Soviet airspace and imprisoned for espionage in the 1960s. The film’s title actually refers to a real bridge located in West Berlin that served as an exchange of captured spies by the various US and Soviet intelligence agencies. Making up the supporting cast includes actors Amy Rylan (Gone Baby Gone, Birdman), Mark Rylance (The Other Boelyn Girl, Blitz), Alan Alda (MASH, The Aviator), and Austin Stowell (Behind The Candelabra, Whiplash) in a script by Matt Charman and treatments by Joel and Ethan Coen (Fargo, No Country For Old Men). It was also recently announced that Oscar-winning composer John Williams (Star Wars, Schindler’s List) will be composing the score for the new drama, which will be Steven Spielberg’s first directorial release since Lincoln in 2012. Lincoln received a Best Picture nomination and won Daniel Day Lewis a third Oscar for Best Actor in a Leading Role, but no pressure on Spielberg or Hanks! All in all, it sounds like we’ve got a pretty great movie to look forward to in the fall, so stay tuned for an upcoming trailer.

‘The Gunman’ Opening In Theaters March 6, 2015

The film is an adaptation of author Jean-Patrick Manchette’s novel from director Pierre Morel (The Transporter, Taken) and screenwriters Pete Travis (The Jury, Vantage Point) and Don MacPherson (The Avengers, Fleming). Penn stars as a former Specials Forces operative who must go on the run across Europe to clear his name of a horrid crime in order to be with his estranged lover. Also starring in the film are actors Idris Elba (American Gangster, Prometheus), Ray Winstone (The Departed, Hugo), and Mark Rylance (The Other Boleyn Girl, Days and Nights). New Teaser Trailer For ‘Ant-Man’ With Paul Rudd Now Available

Marvel’s upcoming film-adaptation of Ant-Man is scheduled to open in theaters this July 17th. Considering the subject matter I can’t honestly say I’m excited about this comic-movie, but fans of the series may enjoy the big-screen adventure from comedic-drama director Peyton Reed (The Break-Up, Yes Man) and comedy screenwriters Adam McKay (Step-Brothers, The Other Guys) and Paul Rudd (Anchorman, Knocked Up). Rudd also leads the cast as Scott Lang (Ant-Man), which also features Evangeline Lilly (Lost, The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug), Hayley Atwell (The Duchess, Captain America: The First Avenger), Judy Greer (Love & Other Drugs, Jurassic World), and Michael Douglas (Romancing The Stone, Wall Street). As I said before I’m not particularly thrilled about this one coming out, but at least McKay and Rudd play into the ridiculous title of this comic character. The plot follows con-man Scott Lang as he uses a specialized suit that can grow and shrink in size in order to pull off a heist that will save the world from self-destruction. Check out the new teaser trailer here on MADE; we should see a more full-length trailer come out closer to the summer-time, so stay tuned.

Watch The New Trailer For Director Colin Trevorrow’s ‘Jurassic World’

Finally after months of waiting we have a trailer for the upcoming sequel/reboot Jurassic World from director Colin Trevorrow. The film features Chris Pratt (The 5-Year Engagement, Guardians of the Galaxy), Bryce Dallas Howard (The Village, The Help), Jake Johnson (Let’s Be Cops, 21 Jump Street), Judy Greer (Love & Other Drugs, Dawn of the Planet of the Apes), and Vincent D’Onofrio (Full Metal Jacket, Men In Black). Picking up more than twenty years after the original film, the island that featured Jurassic Park is now a fully functional tourist attraction that brings visitors from all over the world to see the genetically-engineered dinosaurs, until, of course, a new disaster quickly arises on our cast members. The film is expected in theaters on June 12, 2015. Enjoy!

Producers Adam McKay And Will Ferrell Look To Bring ‘Manimal’ To The Big Screen

duo

Even though the show was canceled after only 8 episodes, the 1980s cult-hit Manimals, which followed a man who could change into animals to fight crime, is being picked up at Sony Pictures Animation for a live-action-animated film, and comedy duo Adam McKay and Will Ferrell are lending a hand with the production. Although neither will be directly involved in the filming process, the comedy team is already busy promoting the movie, which is expected to be an action-comedy with lots of visual effects and computer animation. McKay and Ferrell most recently reunited for the long-awaited sequel to their 2004 comedy hit, Anchorman: The Legend of Ron Burgandy, and while Manimal is the latest on their list of projects to complete, the two already have a number of films that will be wrapping up production very soon, including Daddy’s Home and Sleeping With Other People. Stay tuned for more updates.
