Fifth Element/Rhymesayers Record Store Day 2017

Location: 2411 Hennepin Avenue, Minneapolis
When: Saturday, April 22nd // 9AM-7PM

This weekend is looking like a glorious one for anyone in the Twin Cities. Not only will we celebrate the life of the late great Prince, Record Store Day festivities will also be plentiful across the metro. One of the more notable RSD events is Fifth Element/Rhymesayer’s annual sale at their headquarters in Uptown. This year they’ll be offering 20% of select vinyls and up to 50% off select CDs, they will also have a boat load of merch and used vinyl to dig through. If that wasn’t enough, there will also be live sets from DJ Keezy, Destiny Roberts, Nazeem & Spencer Joles, and DJ Just Nine. This event is free and open to all ages, make sure to come early if you’re serious about scoring some of the hotter deals.

The first week of 2017 is looking like yet another good one for live music in the Twin Cities. Among a plethora of events being held throughout the week, SIMS of Doomtree will headline First Avenue’s mainroom this Friday. Don’t let his super cool style give you the wrong idea, SIMS is one of the best MCs in the Twin Cities and has the track record to prove it. The event will also feature performances from Milwaukee’s own Webster X, Chicago duo Air Credits (Hood Internet & Show You Suck), and Nazeem & Spencer Joles. The buzzing artist will be joined by CRAM, Nazeem & Spencer Joles, Drelli, Infinite One, and the Vice Boys; as well as DJ Tiiiiiiiiiip on the 1s & 2s. Last night, we made our way into the Pourhouse in downtown Minneapolis. The night featured a large list of artists. With Dis-Play & AKAGOD (Gorgeous Gang) holding their release show, they were supported by Nazeem & Spencer Joles, J. Plaza and CRAM to name a few. This last Thursday, we were in attendance for the CRAM Vol.2 Release show, at Triple Rock Social Club. CRAM was joined by Mike The Martyr,¬†Nazeem & Spencer Joles, Denim Matriarch and a other few special guests. As CRAM set fire to the stage, each song was built with energy, pumping up the crowd like a methodical crescendo. Two nights ago, the Cabooze was lit. The evening featured¬†a stacked lineup: The Palmer Squares, CRAM, Spencer Joles & Nazeem, Boofsquad and beat sets from Phib & Lolambie, PRIME.CUT and Blamsiss. If you didn’t make it out, we got your back with a few highlights above. This is just a glimpse of another successful night of hip-hop in the twin cities with many more to come. Fleeky Friday w/ Nazeem & Spencer Joles

Dylan LP will be hosting a new event above the Red Sea tonight and the lineup looks pretty solid. Fleeky Friday will feature performances from Nazeem & Spencer Joles, Empire x GyM, Stifnaut, and Big Kitty, an eclectic group to say the least. The door is only $5, things will probably fill up quickly so if you plan to go, get there early.
