In honor of the late great J Dilla, Minneapolis’ own Mike The Martyr dropped some newness for all of our listening pleasure. A classic instrumental from off of Common’s album, Be, Mike make’s it his with a steady stream of heavy hitting punchlines. I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, Martyr is one of the most overlooked spitters in the Twin Cities. A perfect way to pay homage to one of hip hop’s fallen legends, peep “Clouds” above and stay tuned for more from Mike The Martyr.
Mike The Martyr has been dropping loosies as of late, one of which features Metasota and Baby Shel. The laid back instrumental fits each artist well, Martyr goes in first with a punch line heavy verse leading into Baby Shel on the hook. Metasota shows off his lyrical prowess attacking the beat with a flow unmatched by many in Minnesota. A quick record for those patiently awaiting projects from Mike The Martyr and Metasota, check out “Eggs” above and stay tuned for more.
Mike The Martyr and Franz Diego took to Twitter recently to release a new record dubbed “Wag Team Exclusive.” You ain’t from the south side if you don’t know about that Wag, it’s been awhile since we’ve heard from the Purple City Pioneer himself Franz Diego, definitely refreshing to hear him back. A nice 1, 2 punch, both artists deliver a pair of lighthearted verses; it’s clear that they had fun with this one.
