As spring gets into full swing, In the Heart of the Beast Puppet and Mask Theatre, is preparing to throw their annual MayDay Parade, Ceremony & Festival. The event is meant to celebrate the upcoming summer months, as well as to shed light on issues that effect the mainly working class Powderhorn community. The oft-slept on Powderhorn Park will host a variety of food vendors along with 5 separate areas of entertainment, including 4 stages. If you’re feeling adventurous you can even grab a canoe ride in Powderhorn’s fairly large lake. The MayDay Festival is FREE and an all ages event, so make sure to be mindful of the young ones. Chicago’s Cobra Lounge will be hosting a suicide prevention benefit tonight. The event will feature performances by a couple of noteworthy artists in Cadillac Duke & Auggie the 9th, while DJ Manny Muscles will be spinning. A $5 donation is suggested with the proceeds going to the foundation, Hope For The Day. Good music and good beer for a good cause, what’s better than that?
