New Sequel ‘Jason Bourne’ Opening In Theaters This Weekend

After nine years away, Jason Bourne is returning to the big screen in the fifth installment in the Bourne series. The new film is simply titled Jason Bourne and reunites original lead Matt Damon (Good Will Hunting, The Departed) with Bourne Ultimatum director Paul Greengrass (United 93, Captain Phillips). Julia Stiles (10 Things I Hate About You, Silver Linings Playbook) is also rejoining the cast as CIA operative Nicky Parsons. She and Damon will be joined on screen by an all-star cast, including Oscar winners Alicia Vikander (Ex Machina, The Danish Girl) and Tommy Lee Jones (The Fugitive, No Country For Old Men). Actors Riz Ahmed (The Reluctant Fundamentalist, Nightcrawler), Ato Essandoh (Blood Diamond, Django Unchained), and Scott Sheperd (Side Effects, Bridge of Spies) are also starring in the new adventure that seeks to uncover the true history behind Bourne’s (aka David Webb) mysterious past. New ‘Power Rangers’ Movie Being Planned For 2017

powerrangers

It’s official: there’s a new Power Rangers big-screen adaptation coming to theaters in 2017, and pre-production is already well underway. So much so, in fact, that a director and some initial cast spots have already been filled. Leading the new movie is Project Almanac director Dean Israelite, who will work from a script by screenwriting partners Ashley Miller and Zack Stentz (Thor, X-Men: First Class). Actress Elizabeth Banks (The Hunger Games, Zack and Miri Make a Porno) has just been cast in the role of villain Rita Repulsa, who will face-off with the Power Rangers, comprising of actors Naomi Scott (The 33, The Martian) as the Pink Ranger, Kimberly, RJ Cyler (Me and Earl and the Dying Girl, Second Chances) as the Blue Ranger, Billy, Becky G. (House of Sin, Empire) as the Yellow Ranger, Trini, Darce Montgomery (A Few Less Men) as Red Ranger, Jason, and Ludi Lin (The Intruders, Monster Hunt) as the Black Ranger, Zack. No word yet on whether or not old Zed will appear alongside Rita, or who will star as Zordon or the robot Alpha, but seeing as it’s been a long time since we’ve seen the Power Rangers in theaters, we can expect this is one remake people might actually want to see happen. Stay tuned for more updates.

Director Justin Lin To Tackle Bourne Sequel Next

lin

Director Justin Lin has just wrapped up Fast and Furious 6 and may be asked to take up the helm again for a seventh installment. But for now, Universal has hired him to direct the next installment in the Bourne franchise. Although there is no story line for the new project, and, to their huge disappointment, Universal has not yet been successful in reuniting The Bourne Ultimatum director Paul Greengrass and Matt Damon for the new project, the studio is moving forward with the sequel to The Bourne Legacy (2012). Jeremy Renner, who played agent Aaron Cross in Legacy, is not yet connected to the film, which means that the filmmakers may still take this movie in a whole new direction, ignoring Renner’s and Damon’s characters all together. Whatever the plot, the only official news regarding the movie is that Lin will be behind the camera. So once again, we’ll have to play the waiting game for any details regarding further cast members and whether or not a decent script can be brought to the series.
