Spooky Black has had one hell of a year. Since sending the internet into a frenzy with the above video for “Without You”, Spook has gone on to drop an EP solo and one with TheStand4rd. In November, he played his first ever show to a sold out crowd at Amsterdam Bar & Hall in St. Paul, at this point it seems like the sky is the limit for the kid. “Without You” was just the tip of the iceberg for Spooky Black, 2 million views later his trajectory still hasn’t started to top out. Check out the video above and stay tuned for more.
In the span of a year, Spooky Black has gone from internet sensation to a bonafide blip on all radars. Early in the year, he dropped Black Silk, which featured the track “Without U”, that later went viral. Black Silk was good, and at that point Spooky was already turning heads; but the release of his Leaving EP solidified his presence. Not only was he buzzing solo, Spooky and TheStand4rd continued to impress with every move they made. A couple of tracks turned into a tour, after their sold out show in St. Paul, they dropped their self titled album to rave reviews. From NYC to L.A., the group went on to sell out every show, even managing support from DJ Khaled, Mike Dean and Kreayshawn along the way. There’s no doubt that Spooky Black has arguably had one of the best years of any artist in the Twin Cities. The Leaving EP marks his official step into the ring, what happens next is up to Spook, but we’re sure whatever he cooks up will be good.
Earlier this week, the kid Spooky Black dropped his long awaited EP Leaving. Totaling 8 tracks with a length just over 25 minutes, Leaving picks up right where Spook left off. The project features a lot of production from Kid Hnrk and was even mixed entirely by Doc McKinney (The Weeknd). The hard work is beginning to pay off for Spook and his comrades from The Standard, however; one can only wonder when the kid will take the stage for a live performance. A solid body of work, it’ll be interesting to see what’s next to come from Spooky Black as the year winds down.
