pattyduke

Oscar-winning actress Patty Duke, who achieved stardom as a child actress for starring as Helen Keller in The Miracle Worker (1962), has passed away at the age of 69. Duke was featured on her own television show, The Patty Duke Show, from 1963-1966 and went on to be a star of television shows and movies, as well as a number of big screen productions. Duke struggled, not only with drugs throughout her career, but also with inherent mental illnesses. She eventually overcame her demons and became a mental health advocate and president of the Screen Actors Guild. Her talents and contributions to film and mental health will be missed.
