As Derek Jeter’s good-bye year continues, and with his final All-Star game 1 day away; Jordan Brand has released a new video paying homage to the captain. With an all-star cast including Rudy Guiliani, Spike Lee, Jay-Z, Michael Jordan, Eric Koston, Action Bronson and KRS-One among others; the commercial highlights the respect given to one of baseball’s greats. The “RE2PECT” is underscored with many of the cameos involving people who have had spats with the Yankees franchise (Jay-Z, Spike Lee) in the past; or simply involve fans/players with other allegiances. As a Twins fan, I have mixed feelings about Jeter due to his relentless domination of the Twins across his career; but I still respect the “cap” and will miss him when he’s gone.
