The guys from Leather Corduroys recently dropped a preview for their upcoming video “Lucile.” Directed by Jake Osmun, the visual takes on an eerie feel as the camera slowly moves along. Quite possibly a murder scene, the layered vocals enhance the video’s dark mood. With a project on the way, it should be interesting to see what’s next from these guys, check out the short video above and be on the look out for more.

With Lolla coming this weekend, the after parties are going to be plentiful. A notable event is Save Money’s show at Reggie’s Rock Club on Friday night. The event will feature the likes of Vic Mensa, Joey Purp, Tokyo Shawn, Dally Auston and more with potential for an entire cast of cameos. Unfortunately, this one’s already sold out, so if you’re dying to go you’ll need to cop tickets via Craigslist or Facebook. Keep an eye out for more info and a possible link for tickets.
Save Money’s own Joey Purp dropped a new visual yesterday for his track “Don’t Stop”. Joey gets his message across in a unique way, playing a pastor giving his sermon to a group of would be church goers. The b-roll shots contrast the church against Chicago’s all too gritty streets and Joey’s emotion filled vocals. People often overlook Purp, but this track is a nice glimpse of just how nice the kid really is. Save Money is poised to make 2014 their year in Chicago and so far…. it just might be.
Chicago clothing brand & store, St. Alfred; recently hooked up with legendary surf brand Stussy. The capsule collection is pretty dope and features a jacket, hat, crew-neck and a t-shirt; all of which is now available at St. Alfred.
After catching up with Lil Durk of 300, Thomas Morton and the guys at Noisey link up with Vic Mensa & the Save Money crew as they attempt to spring Joey Purp from jail. Episode 5 of the 8-part series begins with Vic, Dally Austin & Tokyo Shawn scouring the grounds of Lollapalooza for Joey Purps bail money. After raising the $1500 bucks that they needed, the crew journeys over to the Cook County jail to re-unite the team. A nice change of pace from the previous episodes, after all; Chicago’s rap scene is much more than drill music.
Just like Minneapolis, Chicago’s music scene is currently on fire; with an abundance of artists and crews coming out of the woodwork. Since the explosion of Chance The Rapper’s career, Chicago’s Save Money crew has seen a huge bump in exposure. Since then, many of the other, lesser known members have begun getting their due shine. The track below features Joey Purp & Kami De Chukwu on the verses, but the visual features cameos from Vic Mensa, Dally Auston, Tokyo Shawn & Chance as well. After a gun-point robbery caused the video shoot to be cancelled, the finished product is finally here; check it out below.
