New Woody Allen Dramedy ‘Cafe Society’ Opening In Theaters This Friday

Writer/director Woody Allen (Annie Hall, Manhattan) has had a pretty solid streak since Midnight in Paris and Blue Jasmine both won Oscar awards. His latest project is a dramatic comedy following a young Bronx native who moves to 1930s Hollywood to follow his successful uncle, who is a Hollywood agent. Instead, he falls in love with his uncle’s secretary and upon returning to New York, becomes engulfed in the high-society night club scene in Manhattan. The film features an all-star cast, including Jesse Eisenberg (The Social Network, Zombieland), Kristen Stewart (Twilight, Snow White and the Huntsman), Steve Carell (Foxcatcher, The Big Short), and Blake Lively (The Town, The Age of Adaline). New Biographical Drama ‘Race’ Opening In Theaters February 19th

A new biographical drama called Race is opening in theaters nationwide this week, which follows the story of Jesse Owens, the Olympian who won four gold medals for track and field at the 1936 Olympics. Ownes’ performance went down in history, not only for his amazing skill, but also for the fact that his victory happened in Berlin, the heart of Adolf Hitler’s supposedly supreme Aryan Race. The film is directed by Stephen Hopkins (Lost in Space, The Reaping) from a script by Joe Shrapnel and Anna Waterhouse (The Tonto Woman, Frankie and Alice) and stars Stephan James (Home Again, Selma), Jason Sudeikis (Horrible Bosses, We’re the Millers), Eli Goree (Godzilla, The 100), Shanice Banton (Degrassi: The Next Generation, A Day Late and a Dollar Short), Carice van Houten (The Fifth Estate, Game of Thrones), Jeremy Irons (The Man in the Iron Mask, Die Hard with a Vengeance), and John Hurt (The Good Shepard, Robin Hood). Considering the ensemble cast and the profoundly positive message, this one might turn out to be one of the more impressive sports biographies recently released, but that’s no slate against Concussion, Foxcatcher, or 42. The trailer is available here on MADE. See it on the big screen this Friday. Enjoy!

New Full Length Trailer For ‘Batman Vs. Superman: Dawn of Justice’ Now Available

Last week fans were able to catch a sneak peak at a scene from the upcoming Batman Vs Superman: Dawn of Justice, due out in March 2016. The film is the follow up to director Zack Snyder‘s Man of Steel and the precursor to Warner Bros./DC Comics upcoming Justice League movie, which will follow the next year in 2017. Most of the supporting cast from Man of Steel will be reprising their roles, including Henry Cavill (Stardust, The Man From UNCLE) as Superman, Amy Adams (American Hustle, Big Eyes) as Lois Lane, Diane Lane (Unfaithful, Trumbo), and Michael Shannon (World Trade Center, Revolutionary Road), with newcomers Ben Affleck (Argo, The Town) as Batman, Gal Gadot (Fast Five, Furious 7), Jason Momoa (Game of Thrones, Conan the Barbarian), Jesse Eisenberg (The Social Network, Zombieland), Holly Hunter (The Piano, Oh Brother Where Art Thou?), Jeremy Irons (The Man in the Iron Mask, Die Hard with a Vengeance), and Laurence Fishburne (Apocalypse Now, The Matrix) also joining the cast. The new trailer introduces the major players, including Eisenberg’s Lex Luther and a glimpse of Gal Gadot as Wonder Woman, and also of the opposing relationship between Batman and Superman and the political storm surrounding crime in Metropolis and Gotham City. Check out the full trailer here on MADE, and as always, enjoy!

New Trailer For ‘Batman Vs. Superman’ Debuted At Comic-Con 2015

A lot of news was revealed at the annual Comic-Con event in San Diego this year; so much, in fact, that we’ll probably be telling you about it all week. One of the highlights of the event was the Batman Vs. Superman: Dawn of Justice panel, which featured actors Henry Cavill (The Cold Light of Day, Immortals), Ben Affleck (The Town, Argo), Gal Gadot (Entourage, Furious Seven), and Jesse Eisenberg (The Social Network, Zombieland) discussing the movie and the new (much extended) trailer that was unveiled for fans. The movie has a lot of weight resting on its shoulders. Not only will Batman be re-introduced to the big-screen after Christian Bale’s Dark Knight series ended, but Wonder Woman will also make her big-screen debut and (if DC gets their shit together and starts coordinating their superhero movie plots) will lay the groundwork for the upcoming Justice League movies. Wonder Woman is also expected to have her own independent movie coming into production and Ben Affleck has signed on for both the Justice League movies and additional independent Batman movies. Talk about milking the cow! Anyway the new trailer for Batman Vs. Superman, which is expected in theaters March 24th, 2016, is here on MADE. Enjoy!

Margot Robbie Set To Lead Cast Of ‘Suicide Squad’ From Director David Ayer

margot

Actress Margot Robbie stole the screen last December alongside Leonardo DiCaprio in Martin Scorsese‘s The Wolf of Wall Street, and now the actress will be taking a lead role in a new film adaptation from director David Ayer (Training Day, The Fast and the Furious). Robbie will appear as Harley Quinn in the big screen adaptation of Suicide Squad, which follows a group of supervillains in the DC Comic universe that receive commuted prison sentences in exchange for performing black ops missions for the federal government. Actors Tom Hardy (Inception, The Dark Knight Rises), Jai Courtney (A Good Day To Die Hard, Divergent), Will Smith (Independence Day, Men in Black), and Jesse Eisenberg (The Social Network, Now You See Me) are also rumored to be joining the cast. Justin Marks (The Stranger, Rewind) will adapt the screenplay from the comic books by Ross Andru, Robert Kanigher, and John Ostrander. The film has been scheduled for release in August 2016.

Warner Bros. Announces Comic-Film Release Schedule Through 2020

zack

I know there has been a lot of news recently regarding the comic-movie universe, stretching between the Marvel and the DC Comic characters. We already know that Captain America 3 and Avengers 3 are already on the plan books, with Avengers 4 potentially introducing an entire new cast of Avengers, not to mention that Avengers: Age of Ultron is still scheduled for release next summer. But what’s been going on in the DC Comic world? As I’m sure you know by now Ben Affleck has been cast to portray Batman opposite Henry Cavill‘s Superman in the upcoming Batman Vs. Superman: Dawn of Justice, which will also feature Jason Momoa as Aquaman, Jesse Eisenberg as Lex Luther, Gal Gadot as Wonder Woman, and Amy Adams as Lois Lane. The film will be directed by Man of Steel director Zack Snyder, who has now been confirmed by Warner Bros. to return for the Justice League Part 1 and Justice League Part 2 in 2017 and 2019, and that Affleck, Cavill, and Adams will have roles in those films. Jason Momoa will also be featured in a stand-alone Aquaman movie, and Ezra Miller will portray The Flash in a stand-alone movie. Batman and Superman are also both expected to have additional solo movies before 2020 rolls around. I have not heard anything regarding an independent Wonder Woman movie but I wouldn’t necessarily count that either. All this is supposed to happen before we get to 2020, so we should see a a lot of news coming out regarding our comic-hero icons, so stay tuned as we follow these stories more closely.

Danielle Radcliffe Will Take Role In ‘Now You See Me 2’, While Michael Caine Talks Of Retirement

Daniel

Recently we found out that Harry Potter actor Danielle Radcliffe would be taking a role alongside Brie Larson and Ben Kingsley in director Douglas McGrath’s upcoming drama Brooklyn Bridge, and now it seems he will also take a supporting role in the sequel to 2013’s big blockbuster Now You See Me. Radcliffe is rumored to be appearing as fellow British actor Michael Caine’s son in the film that is thus far scheduled for release in June 2016 and will reunite Caine with cast members Jesse Eisenberg, Mark Ruffalo, Woody Harrelson, Isla Fisher, and Dave Franco. While this is pretty good news, it also comes with a hint of bad news. Michael Caine has recently stated in an interview with Newsnight that he may be looking to retire from acting after this movie is completed. The 81-year-old actor has been appearing in films and television series since the 1950s, taking roles in such films as Alfie (1966), The Italian Job (1969), A Bridge Too Far (1977), The Cider House Rules (1999), Children of Men (2006), The Prestige (2006), The Dark Knight (2008), and Inception (2010), and unless a new script comes along before he is finished filming in December, he may walk away from acting for good. Caine has won two Oscars over the course of his career, one for Hannah and Her Sisters (1986) and another for The Cider House Rules (1999), and it would definitely be a loss to the industry if he were to retire, but until we hear something finite, we’ll take it for what it is at the moment: a possibility. Stay tuned.

‘Zombieland 2’ May Be Back In The Works With Director Ruben Fleischer

bill

After five years of waiting for a sequel to the 2009 action/comedy, fans of Zombieland are getting excited about news from Deadline of a sequel with original director Ruben Fleischer being back in the works. Although Fleischer does not have an actual contract on the table at this time, screenwriter Dave Callaham is going to be working on a script for the project, fresh off his work on this summer’s blockbuster Godzilla from Legendary Pictures. While this is all good news, it is not clear as to whether or not the cast of the original will be available at this time, particularly Jesse Eisenberg, who is set to play Lex Luther in the upcoming Batman Vs. Superman: Dawn of Justice, and will most likely return for the Justice League movie after that. Emma Stone is also scheduled to appear in two upcoming projects, one with Cameron Crowe and the other with Woody Allen, while Woody Harrelson is wrapping up work on The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Parts 1 & 2, and will also be appearing in the upcoming sequel Now You See Me 2 (2016). Abigail Breslin will also be appearing in Maggie (2015) alongside Arnold Schwarzenegger, which also revolves around a zombie-apocalypse plot but from a much more dramatic perspective, as a father comforts his daughter through her transformation from human to zombie. We’ll keep an ear out for more news about Zombieland 2. Stay tuned.

The new project is entitled Border Guards from a script by Oscar nominated screenwriter Jesse Armstrong (In The Loop, Four Lions).
