As familiar venues begin to fade away (Cause & Sound Gallery), it is a no brainer that Honey is slowly becoming a hotspot for artists in MPLS. Make sure to stay locked here and don’t forget to check back for your dose of Recaps and flip through some pics below.

Twin Cities artist JayLap recently took to Twitter to drop his new project Klouds. One half of the Cannaholics and nearly a year and a half removed from their previous release, C-Squared; JayLap has decided to go solo with this new full length. A total in-house experience, the 10 track album was produced 100% by JayLap himself, and only has one feature; by frequent collaborator Create. The project’s production is quality with lull, jazzy instrumentals like “Welcome to Klouds,” mesmerizing cruisers like “Schemin’,” and synthy bangers like “Till Death; melting together into one pot.” Melodic with a strong structure, Klouds feels alive and put together as one piece. JayLap gives plenty of perspective into his life and current situation with tracks like “Legalize,” “Find Myself,” and “Don’t Cry.” Substance and depth abound, Jay does a good job balancing the various ideas and topics discussed throughout. A fighter’s anthem, the record serves as an inspirational/motivational soundtrack for anyone on any grind. Klouds feels like a complete work and flows pretty well from front to back, a solid solo debut from one of Minneapolis’ up and coming artists. JayLap’s craft has progressed a lot and this release is a good snap shot of his hard work. “Till Death” stands as our favorite track from the album and Klouds hits an 87 (/100) on our scale, check it out below and keep an eye out for more from JayLap.
