Jugrnaut just released a new tee shirt celebrating the life of the late great J Dilla. The legendary Detroit producer remains an inspiration to artists from around the world, the guys from Jugrnaut specifically giving a nod to his classic album Donuts. Unfortunately for those outside of the Chicago area, this drop is in-store only for now. These will be limited, so head down to Jugrnaut if you like what you see.
We finally got around to playing this one for the full 44mn of it. The video is spliced and edited to perfection using found footage. If you have some downtime, press play and sit back and vibe with Dilla. This must have taken some serious time to put together. Shout out to Houston Loves J Dilla for putting this tribute out for our enjoyment.
A few years back, we caught the first live performance from Joey while watching Jimmy Fallon live, when he performed “Waves”. Ever since, Joey has been one of the most consistent and influential emcees in the game. Joey made his second appearance last night, so for those of you who happenend to miss it, he killed it once again backed by the Roots. The two groups fit together like soy on rice. . . maybe soon, the two will make a complete record with one another, only time will tell. We apologize in advance for the potato quality, as it is the best the internet offers. Stay tuned for his upcoming record, B4.Da.$$, which will be released January 20th, 2015.
Wooooweeee! De La is back at it with a hot record produced by J Dilla. This record sounds exactly like the De La we’re used to hearing; it is as if nothing has changed over the last 25 years. This is HUGE news for everyone in every hip-hop community, simply because this is great music and more of it is to come.
Stay Tuned For The Following Projects: “Smell The DA.I.S.Y.” produced by J Dilla (Mixtape), “Premiem Soul On The Rocks” produced by DJ Premier & Pete Rock (Mixtape)”You’re Welcome” (Album)
Chicago duo the WHOevers, released a dope track a couple of days ago commemorating the anniversary of J Dilla’s untimely passing. The remix to “Sooner or Later” is a nice showcase of both MCs lyrical abilities, they definitely served the beat well. Peep the track below and keep an eye out for more from the WHOevers as they’ll be performing with Show You Suck next Friday (21st).
