Stephen King Adaptation ‘The Dark Tower’ Opening In Theaters This August

Author Stephen King is making a big cinematic comeback in 2017. A new adaptation of his 1986 horror-classic It is opening in theaters this September, and is expected to be a two-part installation with the second film following soon after. Before It hits theaters, however, another Stephen King adaptation will see a nationwide release in the form of The Dark Tower. Based on the final novel in his eight-part series, The Dark Tower, the film follows a man named Roland Deschain, the Last Gunslinger, who faces off with the Man in Black, Walter O’Dim, in an effort to stop him from destroying the Dark Tower, a mystical building that serves as the center of all universes. In writing the series, King drew inspiration from several sources, including the Arthurian Legend, J.R.R. Tolkien’s The Lord of the Rings, and the American West. Continue reading

New Adaptation of ‘The Jungle Book’ Opening In Theaters This Friday

The new live-action adaptation of The Jungle Book is opening in theaters nationwide this Friday, April 15th. The movie had already brought in $30 million in foreign box office sales last weekend, which has already prompted Disney to green-light a sequel with director John Favreau (Iron Man 2, Chef). Screenwriter Justin Marks (Street Fighter: The Legend of Chun-Li, Rewind) adapted the script from author Rudyard Kipling’s novel about the man-cub Mowgli, who, after a threat by the tiger Shere Kahn, must embark on an epic journey across the jungle, led by the panther Bagheera and the bear Baloo, on a journey of self-discovery. The film features an all star cast, including Bill Murray (Ghostbusters, Stripes) as Baloo, Ben Kingsley (Shutter Island, Self/Less) as Bagheera, and Idris Elba (Beasts of No Nation, Thor: The Dark World) as Shere Kahn, along with Scarlett Johansonn (The Avengers, Captain America: Civil War), Lupita Lyong’o (12 Years A Slave, Star Wars: The Force Awakens), Giancarlo Esposito (The Usual Suspects, Smoke), Christopher Walken (Pulp Fiction, Catch Me If You Can), and up-and-coming youngster Neel Sethi as Mowgli. Those of us who grew up watching the original animated feature from Disney will be really excited to see this one on big screens, so be sure to see it while it’s still in theaters. Enjoy!

First Trailer For Pixar’s ‘Finding Dory’ Now Available

It’s been 12 years since Pixar released its original smash hit Finding Nemo, and now Oscar-winning writer/director Andrew Stanton (Toy Story, WALL-E) is returning to the series with a new sequel called Finding Dory. This time around Marlin and Nemo must assist Dory in finding her long lost family in an all new 3D animated adventure that will once again feature the voice talents of Ellen DeGeneres (Ellen: The Ellen DeGeneres Show) as Dory, and Albert Brooks (Drive, A Most Violent Year) as Marlin. Also lending their voice talents to the new film are actors Diane Keaton (The Godfather, Annie Hall), Eugene Levy (American Pie, Best In Show), Ty Burrell (Dawn of the Dead, The Incredible Hulk), Idris Elba (American Gangster, Prometheus), Ed O’Neill (Married…with Children, Modern Family), Kaitlin Olson (It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia, Vacation), and Dominic West (The Forgotten, Hannibal Rising). The new movie won’t be in theaters until Summer 2016, but we’ll be keeping an eye out for additional news and trailers.

First Look At Upcoming Live Action Adaptation For ‘The Jungle Book’

In an age where remakes and sequels are the go-to projects for major film studios, Walt Disney Pictures is keeping itself quite busy revamping their twentieth-century animated classics into live-action thrillers for modern audiences. Their most recent project, which is now playing in theaters, is an updated version of Peter Pan (simply titled Pan) from director Joe Wright (Atonement, Pride & Prejudice) with actors Hugh Jackman (Les Miserables, Prisoners), Levi Miller (A Heartbeat Away, Great Adventures), Garrett Hedlund (Tron: Legacy, Unbreakable), Rooney Mara (The Social Network, Her), and Amanda Seyfried (Mamma Mia, Ted 2). While Peter Pan is definitely one of the more famous Disney characters out there, we at MADE have our eyes fixed on next year’s big Disney release: The Jungle Book. Actor-turned-director Jon Favreau (Iron Man 3, Chef) is leading the project, which features an all-star cast including Scarlett Johansson (Lost in Translation, The Avengers), Idris Elba (Thor, Prometheus), Bill Murray (Ghostbusters, Zombieland), Ben Kingsley (Schindler’s List, Shutter Island), and Christopher Walken (Pulp Fiction, Catch Me If You Can), with Neel Sethi as Mowgli. ‘Insurgent’ And ‘The Gunman’ Opening In Theaters March 20th


Opening on the big screen this week is the second installment in the Divergent series titled Insurgent, based on the book series by Veronica Roth. Insurgent continues to follow Tris Prior and her fellow ‘Divergents’ in their struggle against the alliance, reuniting cast members Shailene Woodley (The Descendants, The Fault in Our Stars), Theo James (You Will Meet A Tall Dark Stranger, Underworld: Awakening), Jai Courtney (A Good Day To Die Hard, Unbroken), Zoe Kravitz (It’s Kind of a Funny Story, X-Men: First Class), Kate Winslet (Titanic, The Life of David Gale), and Ashley Judd (Double Jeopardy, High Crimes), among others. One crew member that is not returning, however, is director Neil Burger, who has been replaced by Robert Schwentke (Flightplan, RED) working from a script by Brian Duffield, Akiva Goldsman, and Mark Bomback. Also opening is a new action flick a little more grounded in reality; The Gunman stars Oscar-winners Sean Penn (Mystic River, Milk) and Javier Bardem (No Country For Old Men, Skyfall), as well as Golden Globe-winner Idris Elba (American Gangster, Prometheus). Vantage Point director Pete Travis adapted the screenplay from Jean-Patrick Manchette’s novel, with Taken director Pierre Morel heading the project. ‘The Gunman’ Opening In Theaters March 6, 2015


A new drama with Oscar-winners Sean Penn (The Interpreter, Mystic River) and Javier Bardem (No Country For Old Men, Skyfall) titled The Gunman is opening in theaters this March 6th. The film is an adaptation of author Jean-Patrick Manchette’s novel from director Pierre Morel (The Transporter, Taken) and screenwriters Pete Travis (The Jury, Vantage Point) and Don MacPherson (The Avengers, Fleming). Penn stars as a former Specials Forces operative who must go on the run across Europe to clear his name of a horrid crime in order to be with his estranged lover. Also starring in the film are actors Idris Elba (American Gangster, Prometheus), Ray Winstone (The Departed, Hugo), and Mark Rylance (The Other Boleyn Girl, Days and Nights).
