Darren Sipity is one of Minnesota’s better pure MCs with a propensity for quick witted wordplay and slick metaphors. A few days back he sent us his new track “Shinaab Faces” which came as a pleasant surprise. Produced by Musikal, Sipity rides the laid back instrumental with heavy doses of introspection, reminiscing about times passed. A good one to kick back and roll one up to, check out “Shinaab Faces” above and stay tuned for more from Darren Sipity.
Nazeem & Spencer Joles have had an excellent year. Between releasing one of Minnesota’s best projects of of the year “Years of Obscurity,” playing Soundset and then Summer Set; it appears that they’ve found their formula for success. The duo recently took to Twitter to release the visual for their standout track “Holy Goat.” Dark and gritty, the visual does a great job of embodying the song’s sound. Imagery bordering the occult, the video is one of the duo’s best to date, it’s obvious that these two are just getting warmed up. Check out the video for “Holy Goat” above and be on the look out for more from Nazeem & Spencer Joles.

Miami’s own Lil Pump will be live at First Avenue next Monday. The young artist is one of hip hop’s more controversial in recent years, the youth touts him as a new age star; while older generations regard him as a detriment to the culture as a whole. No matter your opinion on the subject, Pump has arguably one of the hottest songs of the year in “Gucci Gang,” and he continues to thrive as an independent artist. The Twin Cities’ own Devon Reason will open up the night, rounding out what should be a fun show. Tickets for this show are already SOLD OUT, so if you’re dying to go you’ll have to surf social media, try craigslist, or deal with scalpers. Good luck.

P.O.S has a busy December ahead of him. His “Chill, Dummy” tour just kicked off it’s European leg with 10 stops across 6 countries. Shortly after returning to the states he will team up with Surly Brewing for what should be an awesome NYE party. The night will also feature performances from Later Babes, as well as DJs Ander Other and Rowsheen. This is bound to be a high energy affair and there’s no telling who else might make an appearance throughout the night. Francis Brown has proved himself to be very capable behind the mic, whether with his band Unknown Creatures or as a solo artist. His latest release comes in the form of a single titled, “Coffee,” which also features Spencer Joles. Produced by Aquarius Mind, the dreamy, hi-hat laden instrumental provides Brown with a canvas to unleash some of his inner thoughts. As the track progresses, the record morphs into something entirely different with Joles’ distorted vocals playing as an instrument itself. A well rounded release from an artist who you should be hearing a lot more of in 2018, check out “Coffee” above and stay tuned for more from Francis Brown.
