The good people from Rhymesayers announced the lineup for their annual Soundset Music Festival awhile back and it doesn’t disappoint. Last year was the first year at the Minnesota State Fairgrounds and the event proved to be a huge success. This year’s festival features another STACKED lineup with performances from Ms Lauryn Hill, Gucci Mane, Travi$ Scott, T.I., Lil Uzi Vert, Pusha T, Talib Kweli, and Denzel Curry among MANY others. Locals on this years lineup include the stand4rd, Nazeem & Spencer Joles, Mod Sun, Zuluzuluu, Sophia Eris, and J. Plaza, all of whom deserve their respective slots. General admission tickets are currently available for $84, but VIP passes are already SOLD OUT. Although general admission will probably not sell out, ticket prices increase as we get closer to the event date; it would be wise to purchase your tickets sooner rather than later. Lil Yachty has had arguably the best year out of any breakout artist out there. The Atlanta MC has literally grown from a budding internet artist into a certified international star in less than 12 months. If you witnessed his infamous “Minnesota” performance earlier this year, than you might be able to understand the hype behind Yachty. We’ll admit he’s not for everyone, but we love the kid and always appreciate a new drop. His most recent release comes in the form of a new track dubbed, “Bentley Coupe,” which sees a feature from ATL don Gucci Mane. A classic sample turned into a trap BANGER, “Bentley Coupe” is exactly what you’d expect from Lil Boat. Bump this shit on 40 while we ride out these last few nice days, peep more Yachty below.
Noisey’s “Welcome To The Trap” documentary continues with a trip to Patchwork Studios for a conversation with Coach K. The one time manager for Jeezy and current manager for Gucci Mane and The Migos, gives a little perspective on how the old time beef came about. Gucci takes center stage throughout most of the episode taking the title as Atlanta’s “Trap Lord”. Check out part 3 above and keep an eye out for part 4.
Show You Suck is back with the 3rd visual for his new track “Gucci Mane”. Once again he links up with APJ Films to bring together another interesting concept. A few friends involved and all polka dot everything rounds out the video. It’ll be interesting to see what Show has in store for the final 2 visuals, peep #3 above and stay tuned for the 4th installment.
For the 2nd official video for “Gucci Mane”, Show You Suck links up with George Sol for another interesting visual. Trolls abound, the visual is a lot different than the 1st one; but good in it’s own right. Directed by George Sol, the visual follows the lyrics through a dark room. Video #3 is supposed to come out tomorrow, check out #2 above.
Yesterday, Fake Shore Drive premiered the first of five videos that Show You Suck has for “Gucci Mane”. Once again, Show hooks up with APJ Films on another dope visual. I always laugh when watching Show’s videos (0:56,1:44), he’s satirical yet dead ass serious; making for an immersive visual experience. Simple, but creatively put together, whether it’s the drunken lead singer, swagged out keyboardist or the nonchalant drummer. Check out the video above and be on the look out for the 2nd one.
Chicago’s own Show You Suck took to Twitter at midnight last night to release a new track entitled “Gucci Mane”. Produced by Walking Shoe, the record has an upbeat feel and can almost be visualized when listening. I guess that’s why Show plans to release 5 videos for the track beginning on June 9th (yup 5 VIDEOS). With his next project BUMMER right around the corner, it’s nice to see Show getting back to it. This track will only be available until midnight tonight (June 2nd), it will remain locked until the videos begin releasing on June 9th. Peep the track and stay tuned for more as Show gets ready to drop BUMMER.
Chicago producer duo The BaCKPaCKers sent some newness our way in the form of a mash-up featuring Chance The Rapper & Gucci Mane. “Coast 2 Coast” is a juke heavy jam that’s right on time for your next house party. These dudes are quickly becoming one of my favorite production teams in either city, check out the record below and keep an eye our for more.
