Fulton is known for some tasty IPA’s and also being one of Minneapolis’ first breweries during the MPLS brew bang. It turns out that the guys at Fulton are really, really, good at making imperial styled brews.
After grabbing a 4 pack of Fulton’s Imperial IPA, Insurrection – I found my favorite IPA in the city. This beer features very citrusy and sweet flavors. With very little bitter hops used, this brew goes down sweet and full of flavor. At 9% ABV, you can expect this IPA to quite a sleeper.
If the Fulton Insurrection had a younger brother, this would be the one. Chicago’s finest (in my opinion), Finch’s brewery, makes one of the finer single IPA’s around. With the sweet malt flavors up front, and the slightly bitter hops in the finish; you really cannot go wrong with this well balanced IPA. That’s what you get with a heavy mixture of delicious Victory hops combined with the florally yet bitter Columbus hop profile.
Fulton is probably one of the most recognizable breweries in the Minneapolis area. These guys started brewing a few years ago in a one car garage and have now graduated into a much bigger space. After battling years of debt just to open up their wonderful taproom and brewery, they continue to be a hot spot in downtown Minneapolis. There’s nothing better than getting a few Sweet Child of Vines (IPA) in you before walking over to Target Field to see the Twinkies give up 10 runs.
Just like that, the guys at Fulton are going big time. It was only a few years ago that Fulton began brewing in a garage; but now, they can’t seem to figure out a way slow down production in their current 6,000 square foot building. After three years, they have completely run out of room to grow their company, and need to fix the problem. The solution: to build a brand new brewery in NE, that is a whopping 51,000 square feet!!! Their new goal is to not only produce within the state, but become an 80 barrel brewhouse looking to expand distribution outside of the TC area. Don’t worry about the old brewery and taproom, they won’t be going anywhere. The current brewery will remain there to serve us thirsty folk.
