New Drama ‘Concussion’ With Will Smith Now Playing In Theaters

The new drama titled Concussion with Will Smith (Independence Day, Men in Black) is now playing in theaters nationwide. Smith stars as Dr. Bennett Omalu, the pathologist who discovered CTE after studying pro-football players and the longterm effects of receiving multiple concussions from standard game play. Writer/director Peter Landesman (Parkland, Kill the Messenger) wrote the film to explore Dr. Omalu’s discovery and the attempts of the National Football League to keep it all under wraps, based on a GQ article titled Game Brain by Jeanne Marie Laskas. Co-starring in the film are actors Alec Baldwin (The Departed, The Good Shepard), Albert Brooks (Taxi Driver, A Most Violent Year), Gugu Mbatha-Raw (Beyond the Lights, Jupiter Ascending), and David Morse (The Green Mile, The Hurt Locker). Director Quentin Tarantino‘s new western The Hateful Eight is also available in certain theaters, so if you can be sure to check this one out as well while it’s still on big screens. Enjoy!

New Trailer For ‘Concussion’ With Will Smith Now Available

Will Smith‘s next big screen outing, a drama by the name of Concussion, will be opening in theaters this Christmas Day. This time around the Independence Day and Pursuit of Happiness star takes on the role of Dr. Bennet Omalu, a neuropathologist who first discovered CTE, a brain injury related to playing football, and sought to expose the truth behind the condition, despite the efforts of the multi-million dollar corporation that is the NFL trying to keep him silent. Director Peter Landesman (Parkland, Kill the Messenger) worked with author Jean Marie-Laskas to adapt the screenplay from her GQ article Game Brain, which is based on Dr. Omalu’s life and work. ‘Fury’ Claims Top Spot At Box Office During Opening Weekend; ‘CitizenFour’ Opens To Limited Release

The new World War II drama, Fury, with Brad Pitt and Shia LaBeouf opened last weekend and effectively knocked Ben Affleck’s Gone Girl from the top-spot to a close second. The film hit theater audiences with just under $24 million in opening weekend box-office sales alone, and the pace doesn’t seem to be slowing down. The highly advertised, but apparently unpopular animated feature The Book of Life with Channing Tatum only brought in $17 million, also falling behind Gone Girl‘s third week of release. This week will see another set of uninteresting features, including the Keanu Reeves action flick John Wick (no rhyme intended), and the new horror movie Ouija. There are some pretty interesting projects coming out, however, that will unfortunately only see limited releases. One of these include director Greg Araki‘s dramatic thriller White Bird in a Blizzard with Shailene Woodley, Eva Green, and Christopher Meloni, but the more intriguing release is the documentary Citizenfour, which features interviews with Edward Snowden in Hong Kong with documentarian and reporters Laura Poitras, Glen Greenwald, and Ewen MacAskill. “Citizenfour” was the alias used by Snowden when he contacted Poitras in 2013 via encrypted emails containing Snowden’s evidence of the NSA’s covert surveillance program. Wiki-leaks founder Julian Assange is also featured in the documentary. So if you don’t want to waste your money on another terrible movie about ghosts or featuring Keanu Reeves, put these down on your list. Other limited features to look out for include writer/director Justin Simien’s dramatic comedy Dear White People, the high school football drama 23 Blast, and directors Wai-keung Lau and Andrew Loo’s Revenge of the Green Dragons, a crime-drama following young men involved with the Chinese mafia in 1980s New York City. Enjoy!

Brazil’s 2014 World Cup

Not everything is what it is made out to be, and that is what this video specifically showcases. This very short, yet powerful video sums up very well what has been happening in Brazil leading up to the World Cup. Some of this footage you most likely never of seen before, and some of it might be quite shocking to those who haven’t read into this topic. This is just the tip of the iceberg, and millions of people are quite upset about how the government has spent nearly $30 billion preparing for the World Cup, yet Brazil has many other needs and will have nothing to show for it. If you want to learn more on this subject, John Oliver explains it rather well in a more light hearted note. Stay tuned people, the World Cup will be a police/military infested event.

Minneapolis Wins 2018 Super Bowl Bid

It seems as if things are constantly trending upward right now. Minneapolis has just won a bid to host the 2018 Super Bowl, which it hasn’t hosted since 1992. Yes, it seems like forever, especially for all the 90s babies out there. The decision was based off of the new $1 billion stadium and the additional millions of city renovations that are taking place around the facility. Now, maybe Zimmer and company can help take us there come February 2018.

Feel free to check out the somewhat lame approach that helped score them the winning bid.

Air Jordan V “Cleveland Browns” By Ecentrik Artistry

Custom shoe maker Ecentrik Artistry was recently commissioned by Cleveland Brown’s runningback Chris Ogbonnaya and the above images showcase the final version. The kicks are pretty dope featuring orange leather atop a brown mid-sole, EA even added some personal touches by adding Ogbonnaya’s number “25” on the ankle and an old school Browns logo. Check out the kicks above, these will probably never hit shelves for retail so take it all in while you can.
