Writers Paul And Chris Weitz To Script Japanese Remake ‘Like Father, Like Son’ For DreamWorks Pictures

kore

Japanese filmmaker Hirozaku Kore-Eda turned a lot of heads at the Cannes Film Festival with his movie Like Father, Like Son, including that of Oscar-winner Steven Spielberg, who bought the film with the intent of making an American version here in Hollywood. Now DreamWorks Pictures has hired screenwriters Chris and Paul Weitz to script the project, even though they have no director or producers attached to the film at this time. The two writers have worked independently on such films like In Good Company, Being Flynn, Little Fockers, and The Golden Compass, but some of their greatest successes have been their collaborations on American Pie and About a Boy, which have both seen a great amount of commercial success, with Pie now totaling three sequels. Like Father Like Son is an emotional drama revolving around a case of mistaken identity when a couple receives notice from the hospital that their child is not actually their child (the hospital gave them the wrong baby). Now that DreamWorks has a screenwriting team already at work on the script, we should start hearing some news about a potential director and cast coming out soon. Stay tuned!

Errol Flynn Biopic ‘The Last of Robin Hood’ Coming This Fall

Errol Flynn was an adventure actor in Hollywood’s silver-screen era, starring in action films from the early 1930s until his death in 1959. Flynn had developed a reputation in Hollywood for his flirtatious lifestyle and reputation as an action hero in movies like The Adventures of Robin Hood (1938), Murder at Monte Carlo (1935), and Edge of Darkness (1941) and had worked with some of Hollywoods greatest talents of the time, like director Michael Curtiz and actress Olivia de Havilland. But perhaps what the actor is most famous for in modern times was his elicit affair with a young Hollywood starlet in the latter years of his life. The new biopic from directors Richard Glatzer and Wash Westmoreland, The Last of Robin Hood, follows the story of Flynn’s affair with Beverly Aadland, an up-and-coming actress in Hollywood in the 1950s. Flynn, who was an aging talent and active drunk by the time of his death, kept the affair fairly low key with the help of Aadland’s mother, who actually encouraged the affair, until it finally came into public awareness just before his death. The actor suffered a heart attack while in Canada in October, 1959, but it was also revealed that he had been suffering from heart disease, spinal osteoarthritis, and cirrhosis of the liver from years of alcohol dependency. The Last of Robin Hood features Academy Award winners Kevin Kline as Flynn and Susan Surandon as Florence Aadland, and Dakota Fanning as young starlet Beverly Aadland, and is expected to be released sometime in the fall of this year.
