It’s been a while since director Eli Roth (Cabin Fever, Hostel) has had a new project on the big screen, but now his latest drama titled The Green Inferno is opening in theaters this week. Written by Roth and Guillermo Amoedo (Aftershock, Knock Knock), the film follows a group of volunteers who venture to the Amazon rainforest in order to help preserve it, until a group of natives discovers them and their trip of “good intentions” quickly turns into a nightmare. Starring in the film are Eli Roth regulars Lorenza Izzo (Que pena tu Familia, Aftershock), Ariel Levy (Fuerzas Especiales, Aftershock), Aaron Burns (Grindhouse, Machete), Kirby Bliss Blanton (Scar, Project X), and Magda Apanowicz (The Butterfly Effect, A Reason). The trailer looks pretty suspenseful, and knowing Roth’s style I’m sure there will be a great amount of gore layered over with a grim sense of humor, so it should be an entertaining watch nevertheless. The trailer is available here on MADE. Enjoy!
Minneapolis’ Open Streets campaign continues next Sunday with a trip downtown. Notable stops along the route include Pizza Luce, Xcel Energy, Gastrotruck and First Avenue’s annual garage sale. These are family friendly events so think of the kids if you’ll be partying, if you’re looking for something to do head down to First Ave.
With Familia celebrating it’s 10th Anniversary a few weeks back, the Uptown skate shop proved they were celebrating big, announcing a collaboration with Nike SB. The Dunk High ” Blow Ox” was born, skaters and sneaker heads rejoiced, but details surrounding the release are STILL nil to none. This Saturday, July 4th is the day, if you’re dying to grab a pair (like me) stop by the shop and see what’s up, we’ll throw up the necessary info once acquired.
Director Luc Besson (The 5th Element, Taken) recently announced at the Cannes Film Festival that his production company, EuropaCorp, is currently working on developing a new Pablo Escobar biopic with Oscar-winners Javier Bardem (No Country For Old Men, Skyfall) and Penelope Cruz (Blow, Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides). Titled Escobar, the screenplay will be based on the book Loving Pablo, Hating Escobar by author Virginia Vallejo, but the movie is still extremely early in production (which is not really a bad thing considering Benicio Del Toro’s Escobar: Paradise Lost is still awaiting worldwide release) and Besson will not be directly involved with this project himself. He is currently in the process of getting Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets off the ground while also serving as producer on Warrior’s Gate (2015) and The Lake (2016), so writing and directing duties for Escobar are expected to fall on Fernando Leon Aranoa (A Perfect Day, Familia). Stay tuned for more news.
