Last Friday night made for a solid lineup at the Icehouse, as the venue continues to bring in variety of talented artists. The night featured Big Cats, Eric Mayson and Nooky Jones. With all three artists covering a wide range of genres, the crowd was into each performance until the end. If you don’t know about Eric Mayson by now, your musical library is severely lacking. Apart from his various endeavors, including work with Toki Wright, Lizzo, Caroline Smith, and a plethora of other artists, Mayson now has quite the budding solo career. A few months ago he dropped one of the year’s best projects in Detail, and he recently doubled up with a new single titled “Aces.” This is the type of record that can shift the mood in a room, as soulful as they come; Mayson’s lyrics really lock the listener in. As good as he is, one really can’t help but feel like this is just the beginning. Check out “Aces” above and keep an eye out for more from Eric Mayson.
Icehouse might be the place to go tonight for those looking for a great show experience in a more laid back setting. The evening will feature neo soul artist Nooky Jones with his band, as well as Big Cats and all around badass Eric Mayson. Icehouse is one of the best venues in the city and nights like this really fit it’s atmosphere well. This one is 21+ and the door is $10, click the link below for more information.

With the release of Eric Mayson’s solo debut nearly upon us we’ve been listening to his lead single “Skyline” like crazy. A soulful record that begins with a defeated undertone, ominous yet hopeful; it opens up like a flower in bloom right around the 0:40 mark. The song transforms into a groove with an electric feel as Eric shows us his perspective. A dynamic record with impressive production from Big Cats, Eric Mayson seems right at home on this one. We’re definitely excited to hear his debut full length, Detail, when it releases this Friday, August 28th. For now we’ll just have to keep jamming to “Skyline.”
