Dwynell Roland – Whirlwind (Live on The Current)

Dwynell Roland broke out big in 2016 after the release of his project, The Popular Nobody. He kept the momentum going into 2017 supporting P.O.S on the western leg of his national tour, an opportunity that proved the valuable for the young artist. He recently did an in-studio performance of his song, “Whirlwind,” with The Current. Joined only by producer Travis Gorman, Dwynell’s vocals sound remarkably identical to the actual recording. Check out the performance for yourself above and keep an eye out for more from Dwynell Roland.

Dwynell Roland – Word (Video)

Just over a week removed from a nearly sold out show at 7th Street Entry, Dwynell Roland is back with a new visual for his track “Word.” Shot by Morningside Films, the video uses Minneapolis’ night skyline as the backdrop, providing an awesome display of lights. No bars wasted on this track, Dwynell keeps the heat going with each line, throw in a hook that sticks like glue and you’ve got a dope record. The High Minds – Don’t Play

Minnesota just might have the hottest hip hop scene in the country right now, above all; what sets us apart is our strong collaborative community. Earlier this summer a healthy cast of MN artists including Finding Novyon, Manny Phesto, Baby Shel, Devon Reason, Dwynell Roland, Left Field, Frank Castle, and Travis Gorman; joined forces to tour the nation under the moniker “The High Minds.” That moment is proving to be more of a spark than a flicker as the group now stands 2 nights from their collective show at 7th Street Entry. Reminiscent of squad records from Dipset, G-Unit, Ruff Ryders etc.., The High Minds convene on a new song titled “Don’t Play;” I can’t remember the last time I heard a DOPE record with this many people on it. A variety of different styles shine through as each artist makes their mark allowing the track to take on a cypher like feel. Peep “Don’t Play” above and keep an eye out for more from The High Minds.

Dwynell Roland – Snipes

Dwynell

Dwynell Roland (The Rotation) took to Twitter last night to drop a track titled “Snipes.” After throwing down at this year’s SXSW, one can only wonder what’s next for Dwynell and The Rotation. Produced by Travis Gorman, “Snipes” finds Roland well within his comfort zone, the instrumental fitting his style well. With the summer sitting right around the corner, you can expect a lot more from Dwynell Roland and The Rotation; consider “Snipes” as something to hold you over. Peep the song below and be on the look out for more.

Dwynell Roland – Snipes (Video)

The kid Dwynell Roland took to Twitter earlier today to release a new video titled, “Snipes.” Produced by Travis Gorman and filmed by Neo Film Movement, the video embodies those cold nights in the city of Minneapolis. Dwynell’s flow feels comfortable over Gorman’s relaxing production, with each release he continues to impress. Simple, but effective, “Snipes” is another step in the right direction. Check out the video above and keep an eye out for more from Dwynell Roland.
