‘The Divergent Series: Allegiant – Part 1’ Now Playing In Theaters

Fans of the Divergent films, which are based on the books by author Veronica Roth, finally get to see the last chapter of the series on the big screen this weekend, or at least half of the last chapter. Like so many series-films have all done since the filmmakers behind Harry Potter split the final book into two movies, this final chapter, Allegiant, will also be split into Parts 1 and 2, with the second installment expected in theaters next year. Allegiant – Part 1 picks up after the conclusion of Insurgent, and finds the protagonist Tris Prior and Four trying to escape over the wall surrounding futuristic Chicago in order to discover what is hidden behind the other side. Insurgent director Robert Schwentke (FlightPlan, Red) returned to direct the new installment, working from a screen adaptation by Noah Oppenheim (The Maze Runner, Jackie), Adam Cooper and Bill Collage (Accepted, Exodus: Gods and Kings). Starring in the series are actors Shailene Woodley (The Descendants, White Bird in a Blizzard), Theo James (The In-between Movie, Underworld: Awakening), Naomi Watts (King Kong, J. Edgar), Octavia Spencer (The Help, Fruitvale Station), Jeff Daniels (Dumb and Dumber, The Martian), and Zoe Kravitz (Dope, Mad Max: Fury Road). Watch the trailer one more time before you see the movie in theaters, and have a safe Saint Patrick’s Day weekend!

New Trailer For ‘The Martian’ With Matt Damon Now Available

We’ve been hearing little bits and pieces of Matt Damon‘s upcoming project The Martian for some time now, and finally after months of waiting we have a new trailer!! The Departed and Bourne-series actor will be leading an all-star cast that includes Jessica Chastain (Lawless, A Most Violent Year), Kate Mara (Iron Man 2, Transcendence), Kristen Wiig (Bridesmaids, The Secret Life of Walter Mitty), Sean Bean (The Lord of the Rings, Game of Thrones), Jeff Daniels (Dumb and Dumber, Speed), and Chiwetel Ejiofor (American Gangster, 12 Years A Slave) in the story about an astronaut who is left for dead on Mars by his crew and must find a way to survive and make Earth aware of his survival. This will be Damon’s second outing as an astronaut following his smaller role in Christopher Nolan’s Interstellar last year (which co-star Jessica Chastain also starred). Oscar-winner Ridley Scott (Gladiator, Prometheus) directed the project from an adaptation of author Amy Weir’s novel by screenwriter Drew Goddard (Lost, World War Z). On a personal note, both Lost and World War Z sucked hardcore in terms of everything, so having Mr. Goddard’s name attached to this film doesn’t really give me high hopes for the story, but considering Ridley Scott is behind the camera, we may still have a movie that’s worth going to see. The trailer is now available here on MADE. Look for the movie in theaters this November 25th.

Since being picked up by Universal Pictures, the new biopic of Apple founder Steve Jobs is starting to gain momentum, with production already getting underway in Silicon Valley, CA. Written by Aaron Sorkin (The Social Network, Moneyball) and starring Michael Fassbender (X-Men:First Class, 12 Years A Slave) as Steve Jobs and Seth Rogen (Superbad, The Interview) in the role of Steve Wozniak, the story chronicles several high-points in the co-founders’ careers, beginning with the 1984 Macintosh computer and spanning all the way to the iPod in 2001. Production has already begun at Steve Jobs’ old garage in Los Altos, where he and Wozniak co-founded Apple in 1976. Director Danny Boyle (Trainspotting, Slumdog Millionaire) is sitting behind the camera for the project, which also features Katherine Waterson (Michael Clayton, Inherent Vice), Kate Winslet (Titanic, The Life of David Gale), Michael Stuhlbarg (Hugo, Men in Black 3), and Jeff Daniels (Speed, Dumb and Dumber To) in the supporting cast. Stay tuned for more news.

Jeff Daniels Is Taking A Role Alongside Matt Damon In Ridley Scott’s ‘The Martian’

jeff

With the release of Dumb and Dumber To drawing nearer as we approach the holidays, and the final season of HBO’s The Newsroom airing this fall, Jeff Daniels has had to fill his schedule for the upcoming 2015 calendar, and his new project seems a pretty good choice. Daniels will appear as the director of NASA alongside Matt Damon in director Ridley Scott’s upcoming space drama The Martian, which is scheduled for release next November. The story follows Damon as an astronaut stranded on Mars and his mission to survive until a rescue mission is sent to bring him back to Earth. Although this seems somewhat reminiscent of Brian DePalma’s Mission To Mars (2000), it should still make for a good watch. Scott is behind such films as Alien (1979), Blade Runner (1982), Gladiator (2000), Matchstick Men (2003), American Gangster (2007), Robin Hood (2010), and The Counselor (2013), and Jeff Daniels and Matt Damon are both highly versatile actors, with Daniels being known as much for his dramatic abilities as his comedic skills. Other names attached to the project include Jessica Chastain (The Help, Zero Dark Thirty), Kate Mara (House of Cards, Transcendence), Kristen Wiig (The Brothers Solomon, Despicable Me), and Michael Pena (The Lincoln Lawyer, American Hustle). We’ll look out for more news.

Ted Sequel Gets Release Date From Universal

ted

When Ted hit theaters last summer, fans of Seth McFarlane and his raunchy animated comedy series Family Guy couldn’t get enough of the binge drinking, pot smoking, dirty mouth teddy bear who was brought to life by a childhood wish. With McFarlane providing the voice of Ted, and Mark Wahlberg and Mila Kunis leading the cast, Ted was a hit at the box office, so huge, in fact, that Universal announced a sequel by the time fall came around. Now a release date has been set for April 2015, which is still a ways away, but 2015 will be filled with plenty of big-name movies to satisfy every movie-goers’ fiendish needs! Ted now joins a list of comedies that are getting upcoming sequels, including Dumb and Dumber and Anchorman. All the characters are in place for these movies, so let’s hope the writers provide some decent material and actually make these comedies worth seeing.

Now You See Me Joins Hollywood Sequels List

see

Earlier this year, Jesse Eisenberg, Mark Ruffalo, and Woody Harrelson starred in the magician bank heist movie Now You See Me. The movie was released Memorial Day weekend and gained an impressive reception of more than $230 million in worldwide ticket sales. Now Summit Entertainment is talking about making a sequel based on the box office success of the film. This kind of planning, however, has a track record of movies that have done very well and then sequels that turn out horrendous. Caddyshack 2, Indian Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull, all of the new Star Wars sequels, Batman and Robin, Superman Returns, Rocky 5, and Grease 2 are just a few that have had horrible receptions with audiences. Movie sequels that are actually written well and made correctly, however, have proven time and again to do as well as their predecessors. Sequels to Spiderman, The Godfather, Clerks, and The Dark Knight have all made amazing box office sales, and stand by themselves as individual films and not just sequels. If the movie is done the right way and they convince the original cast to come back with a good script, maybe they could pull off a pretty cool sequel. This being the era of movie sequels, however, it may just be another number on an already very long list that includes Dumb and Dumber, Independence Day, and Star Wars.

Fall Shooting for Dumb and Dumber To

dumb-and-dumber2

After much debate as to whether or not audiences would get to see the original comedy duo back on the big screen, Jeff Daniels has confirmed that Dumb and Dumber To will begin shooting this fall. The film was originally dropped by Warner Bros. Pictures, as well as New Line Cinema. Universal Pictures, however, has picked up the project and given it the green light! Dumb and Dumber To is planned to be shot and prepped for release next year in celebration of the original film’s 20th anniversary.
