Ridley Scott’s ‘The Martian’ With Matt Damon Now Playing In Theaters

Fresh off its last festival stop at the Toronto International Film Festival, the latest blockbuster from Oscar-winner Ridley Scott (Gladiator, Prometheus), The Martian, is now playing in theaters across the country. Based on the book by author Andy Weir, the film features an all-star cast led by Matt Damon (The Bourne Identity, The Departed), including Jessica Chastain (Interstellar, A Most Violent Year), Kristen Wiig (Bridesmaids, The Secret Life of Walter Mitty), Jeff Daniels (Speed, The Newsroom), Michael Pena (End of Watch, Fury), Sean Bean (The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring, Game of Thrones), Kate Mara (House of Cards, Captive), and Chiwetel Ejiofor (Children of Men, 12 Years A Slave). Screenwriter Drew Goddard (Cloverfield, World War Z) adapted the script from Weir’s book about an astronaut who becomes stranded on Mars and must survive against all odds in order to return to his family on Earth. New Action Thriller ‘No Escape’ Now Playing In Theaters

A new action-thriller titled No Escape from writer/director John Erick Dowdle (Quarantine, As Above So Below) is now playing on big screens nationwide. Starring Owen Wilson (Wedding Crashers, Midnight in Paris) and Lake Bell (Million Dollar Arm, In A World…), the film centers on an American couple and their children living in a SE Asian country who must flee to the American Embassy when a war breaks out between the local military and radical protesters taking to the streets. Golden Globe nominee Pierce Brosnan (GoldenEye, Die Another Day) and actor/producer Sahajak Boonthanakit (Elephant White, Only God Forgives) also appear in the supporting cast. The film was originally slated for a February release under the name The Coup but was pushed back for a Fall release instead. Director Dowdle and his brother Drew (who lent a hand in writing the script) are also producing the project through their company Dowdle Brothers Productions, along with The Weinstein Company and Bold Films. The trailer is available here on MADE. Enjoy!

New Trailer For ‘The Martian’ With Matt Damon Now Available

We’ve been hearing little bits and pieces of Matt Damon‘s upcoming project The Martian for some time now, and finally after months of waiting we have a new trailer!! The Departed and Bourne-series actor will be leading an all-star cast that includes Jessica Chastain (Lawless, A Most Violent Year), Kate Mara (Iron Man 2, Transcendence), Kristen Wiig (Bridesmaids, The Secret Life of Walter Mitty), Sean Bean (The Lord of the Rings, Game of Thrones), Jeff Daniels (Dumb and Dumber, Speed), and Chiwetel Ejiofor (American Gangster, 12 Years A Slave) in the story about an astronaut who is left for dead on Mars by his crew and must find a way to survive and make Earth aware of his survival. This will be Damon’s second outing as an astronaut following his smaller role in Christopher Nolan’s Interstellar last year (which co-star Jessica Chastain also starred). Oscar-winner Ridley Scott (Gladiator, Prometheus) directed the project from an adaptation of author Amy Weir’s novel by screenwriter Drew Goddard (Lost, World War Z). On a personal note, both Lost and World War Z sucked hardcore in terms of everything, so having Mr. Goddard’s name attached to this film doesn’t really give me high hopes for the story, but considering Ridley Scott is behind the camera, we may still have a movie that’s worth going to see. The trailer is now available here on MADE. Look for the movie in theaters this November 25th.

Ridley Scott Juggling ‘The Martian’ With Matt Damon, ‘Prometheus 2’ And Harrison Ford In ‘Blade Runner’ Sequel?

scott

Having just appeared in Elysium with Jodie Foster in 2012, Matt Damon will be getting behind the camera for another space adventure with director Ridley Scott (Alien, Gladiator) for The Martian. Coming from a script that was adapted by Drew Goddard from Andy Weir’s book, the story follows an astronaut who ends up stranded on Mars and must play the survival game until he can find a means to get back to Earth. Goddard was originally set to write and direct the project, but his earlier commitment to direct The Sinister Six for Sony Pictures has Scott now in talks to direct, even though Scott is currently finishing up Exodus for release later this year and also has Prometheus 2 scheduled for a March 2016 release. Warner Bros. pictures has also recently announced that a sequel to Scott’s 1982 blockbuster Blade Runner is going to be in the works with Harrison Ford reprising his role as Rick Deckard. According to Alcon Entertainment, who co-produced/financed the first Blade Runner, the screenplay will be written by original writers Hampton Fancher and Michael Green and will, if all goes according to plan, follow Ford’s character several decades after the conclusion of the first film, with Scott once again directing. Considering all of the projects Scott is also involved with as producer, it seems his plate is filling up pretty quickly, but we’ll see how all of this pans out. The Martian will most likely be the first step after Prometheus 2 is finished (assuming Scott does decide to direct), and then Blade Runner will follow that (also assuming it doesn’t conflict with his new Star Wars commitments!).
