New Trailer Available For ‘Captain America: Civil War’

With the summer movie calendar quickly drawing near, new trailers are starting to fill up television spots and the pre-feature trailers at the movie theaters in abundance. One such trailer is the second for the highly-anticipated Captain America: Civil War, which will open on big screens on May 6th, 2016. The new movie follows the story-line established with Avengers 2, Iron Man 3, and Captain America: The Winter Soldier, this time finding the Avengers split between leading members Steve Rogers/Captain America (Chris Evans) and Tony Stark/Iron Man (Robert Downey Jr.), who disagree over new sanctions that the government wishes to install in order to monitor the team of heros and “prevent any further widespread damage or casualties” as a result of their efforts. As expected, the movie is loaded with the all-star cast of familiar faces, including Scarlett Johansson (Lucy, Hail! Caesar) and Jeremy Renner (American Hustle, The Bourne Legacy). Continue reading

Paul Thomas Anderson To Write New Script For Robert Downey Jr.’s ‘Pinocchio’

pinocchio

Warner Bros. Pictures has taken a potential new direction with their upcoming Pinocchio production with star Robert Downey Jr. (The Avengers, The Judge). Downey has been attached to the project for several years now, with various names like Ben Stiller being tossed around to direct. But now Warner Bros. is turning to Oscar-nominated filmmaker Paul Thomas Anderson (There Will Be Blood, The Master) to re-write the current script by Michael Mitnick with the aim at possibly directing as well. Paul Thomas Anderson writing a Pinocchio script is already pretty surprising, but given his impressive catalogue of work this may turn out to be a really great move! As far as the story goes, Downey is expected to appear as Geppetto, the woodworker who makes a boy puppet that miraculously comes to life, who sets out on a journey to reunite with his lost puppet. Nothing is confirmed yet, but let’s hope this one comes together. Stay tuned for more news.

Oscar-nominated writer/director Joss Whedon (Toy Story, The Avengers) also returned to lead the project. Here’s the trailer one more time, now go see it on the big screen!!

More comic book news is coming out of Marvel regarding additions to the cast of the upcoming Captain America: Civil War film, scheduled for release in May 2016. We already know that Robert Downey Jr. will star as Iron Man opposite Chris Evans as Captain America and that the two will face-off against each other in battle, but now we have word about another potential villain appearing in the film, and that German actor Daniel Bruhl may be taking the part. Variety has stated that Bruhl, who has appeared in films like Inglorious Bastards and Rush (opposite Chris Hemsworth, who plays Thor in The Avengers), will not star as the main villain, but that it’s likely his role will be the main villain in the upcoming Doctor Strange release. Captain America: Civil War is being directed by Anthony and Joe Russo, and will appear in theaters after Avengers: Age of Ultron is released next year. Chadwick Boseman is also set to appear in the film as Black Panther. Stay tuned for more news.

With all the news about upcoming comic-book movie releases that Warner Bros. and Universal have been putting out lately, a lot of attention seems to have diverted away from a sequel that is actually coming out this summer! Avengers: Age of Ultron is scheduled to open in theaters on May 1, 2015 and will see the cast of the original Avengers reunited on screen. Andy Serkis And Original Hulk Actor Lou Ferrigno Lending A Hand In ‘Avengers: Age Of Ultron’

hulk

With production on The Avengers: Age of Ultron currently in full speed, fans are growing more and more eager to see the sequel to one of the most anticipated comic movies ever. Scarlett Johansson, Chris Evans, Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Robert Downey Jr., Jeremy Renner, and Mark Ruffalo are all reprising their comic hero counterparts for the Age of Ultron, which is once again being written and directed by Joss Whedon (Toy Story, Alien: Resurrection). Along with other supporting cast members like Samuel L. Jackson and Don Cheadle, actor Mark Ruffalo, who is reprising the role of Hulk, will be receiving some help on his character from actors Lou Ferrigno and Andy Serkis. Ferrigno, if you are not aware, portrayed the Hulk in the 1970s TV series The Incredible Hulk, and Serkis is the experienced mime-actor behind Gollum in The Lord of the Rings and Caesar in Rise of the Planet of the Apes. Ferrigno will provide some voice-overs for the Hulk when he is big and green, and Serkis will be coaching Ruffalo with some motion-capture techniques for the new movie. Age of Ultron is scheduled for release in May 2015, so we’ll have to wait to see the two actors’ contributions, but it will most likely be worth it.

Sztykiel’s track record includes the comedies Made of Honor (2008) and Due Date (2010) with Robert Downey Jr. and Zach Galifianakis. Guy Ritchie Could Direct Upcoming King Arthur Project For Warner Bros.

ritchie

Warner Bros. is currently trying to get a new King Arthur project off the ground, and now may have Guy Ritchie behind the camera. The director’s last big screen project was Sherlock Holmes and its sequel, A Game of Shadows, with Robert Downey Jr. and Jude Law. He is currently wrapping up production on The Man From “U.N.C.L.E.” with actors Henry Cavill (Man of Steel) and Armie Hammer (The Lone Ranger). The movie follows a CIA agent who teams up with a KGB operative to stop a mysterious organization from mass developing nuclear weapons in the 1960s Cold War era. Ritchie had an Arthur project in the works with Warner Bros. back in 2010, but the project never made it into full production. The studio also decided to drop a remake of Excalibur, a film by director John Boorman which was released in 1981, as well as another project by David Dobkin (Wedding Crashers). The new project with Ritchie may be the first in a series of six films, although there are no reports confirming this information. The last Arthur project that hit Hollywood was King Arthur (2004) with Clive Owen and Keira Knightley which was distributed by Touchstone Pictures and Jerry Bruckheimer. The new film is being produced by Akiva Goldsman and Lionel Wigram and will be written by Joby Harold. We’ll look for news of a first draft, if the project does ever make it off the ground.

Hugh Hefner Biopic In The Works At Warner Bros.

hugh

Warner Bros. is currently working on a biopic for Playboy founder Hugh Hefner with producer Jerry Weintraub (The Karate Kid, Ocean’s Eleven). The project is being written by Peter Morgan (The Queen, The Last King of Scottland) and is set to be directed by Wedding Crashers director David Dobkin. Dobkin is currently wrapping up his latest project, a drama called The Judge starring Robert Downey Jr. and David Krumholtz, which is set for release this October. It is still unclear how the script will play out, if it will simply cover his early days with Playboy or more of a whole life chronicle, but considering the subject matter is Hugh Hefner and Playboy I’m sure it will be pretty graphic. Stay tuned for more.
