Fans of the Divergent films, which are based on the books by author Veronica Roth, finally get to see the last chapter of the series on the big screen this weekend, or at least half of the last chapter. Like so many series-films have all done since the filmmakers behind Harry Potter split the final book into two movies, this final chapter, Allegiant, will also be split into Parts 1 and 2, with the second installment expected in theaters next year. Allegiant – Part 1 picks up after the conclusion of Insurgent, and finds the protagonist Tris Prior and Four trying to escape over the wall surrounding futuristic Chicago in order to discover what is hidden behind the other side. Insurgent director Robert Schwentke (FlightPlan, Red) returned to direct the new installment, working from a screen adaptation by Noah Oppenheim (The Maze Runner, Jackie), Adam Cooper and Bill Collage (Accepted, Exodus: Gods and Kings). Starring in the series are actors Shailene Woodley (The Descendants, White Bird in a Blizzard), Theo James (The In-between Movie, Underworld: Awakening), Naomi Watts (King Kong, J. Edgar), Octavia Spencer (The Help, Fruitvale Station), Jeff Daniels (Dumb and Dumber, The Martian), and Zoe Kravitz (Dope, Mad Max: Fury Road). Watch the trailer one more time before you see the movie in theaters, and have a safe Saint Patrick’s Day weekend!
Writer/director Rick Ramuyiwa (The Wood, Brown Sugar) will see his latest dramatic comedy Dope open on the big screen this June 19th. Narrated by Oscar-winner Forest Whitaker (The Last King of Scotland, Lee Daniel’s The Butler), the film follows Malcolm, a young high school senior living in Inglewood, CA who struggles with gang-bangers and drug-dealers in his neighborhood while attempting to finish high school and complete his SATs, all while applying for and going on college interviews with the goal of going to Harvard. Ramuyiwa directed from his own script, which first showed at the Sundance Film Festival back in January and which will also be shown at the upcoming Los Angeles Film Festival this June. Starring in the film are actors Shameik Moore (The Watsons Go To Birmingham, Joyful Noise), Tony Revolori (The Perfect Game, The Grand Budapest Hotel), Kiersey Clemons (Shake It Up, Transparent), Kimberly Elise (John Q, For Colored Girls), Blake Anderson (Workaholics, Neighbors), and Zoe Kravitz (X-Men: First Class, Divergent). Keep an eye out for an upcoming trailer!

The Seattle emcee will be releasing his latest record, Raw Sheep, this upcoming March 30th. The record will be produced by the familiar Ackryte and released through Cascade Records. This will be the third record released by Ackryte and J’Von, and there is no issue telling they have built solid chemistry on this record. With Ackryte’s heavy beats with deep basslines and snares, all coupled with J’Von’s ability to use real life stories in tongue tied linguistics – Raw Sheep, should be on everyones calendars.
It has been a while since we have featured a anything from Go Yama. With that said, the versatile producer released his latest track titled, “Goron Blizzard”. Press play and stand on your dining room table or something.
As promised, we now present part two from, Our City’s True Beauty. As we made our way from the basement to the top, there were many opportunities for photos, as the building was littered with dope graffiti and amazing lighting effects.
Once we reached the top, there was a moment of awe, as the city and the landscape that surrounds it seemed so minuscule. Blues skies and trees dominate the world with the faint city in the distance. At the very top, we didn’t have long to be up there as we were prone to be seen by those around. After a quick glimpse, it was time to leave.
At our second location, it is quite obvious where we are, as it is more of a well traveled place. Once we were in, it was a breezy 10 story walk up the stairs and you are to the top. With great views all around, this trip is good for those wanting something much easier to access. All in all, we hope you enjoy some of these photos, and if you missed part one of the mini-series, feel free to keep scrolling down or click here.

Press play and let the undeniably addicting sounds flow through your eardrums.
This past Friday night, we made our way into Triple Rock for what turned out to be another packed show in 2015. The night featured the likes of: BLVCK SPVCE, Spyder Baybie Raw Dog w/ 2% Muck, and Major G. With opening jams by Major G and the entertaining Syder Baybie – The Triple Rock was filled with anticipation and booze by the time SPVCE took to the stage.
With a thick Minneapolis crowd showing support for BLVCK SPVCE and friends – they did not disappoint with their performance. High energy, thunderous base, and DJ Snuggles holding it down on the 1’s and 2’s – Triple Rock was the place to be. Once again…With a large number of shows scheduled this coming February, the night life and arts show no signs in stopping with its momentous climb. Stay tuned as 2015 will be a BIG year for many.
