Minnesota just might have the hottest hip hop scene in the country right now, above all; what sets us apart is our strong collaborative community. Earlier this summer a healthy cast of MN artists including Finding Novyon, Manny Phesto, Baby Shel, Devon Reason, Dwynell Roland, Left Field, Frank Castle, and Travis Gorman; joined forces to tour the nation under the moniker “The High Minds.” That moment is proving to be more of a spark than a flicker as the group now stands 2 nights from their collective show at 7th Street Entry. Reminiscent of squad records from Dipset, G-Unit, Ruff Ryders etc.., The High Minds convene on a new song titled “Don’t Play;” I can’t remember the last time I heard a DOPE record with this many people on it. A variety of different styles shine through as each artist makes their mark allowing the track to take on a cypher like feel. Peep “Don’t Play” above and keep an eye out for more from The High Minds.
This past Sunday night, MADE helped sponsor a night of strictly hip-hop music. The featured all of the artists listed above, with some special guests thrown in as well. With new and upcoming artists, and already established artists in the MPLS scene – we had one hell of an evening planned.
If you are just now hearing of some of these names, go do what you do and make sure to take a listen. As Minneapolis continues to climb the ranks and gather national attention in the music industry, it is important not to miss a beat (no pun intended). Take a glance at the pics above and stay tuned for the full album to be posted tomorrow.

Earlier today, Devon Reason took to Twitter to release a new video titled “Mine.” Directed by Common Culture and produced by Travis Gorman, Devon finds himself in good hands affording a certain level of comfort. An infectious chorus leads into each verse smoothly, relentlessly the MPLS spitter attacks with tenacious cadences. These two have really grown a lot together and it definitely shows in terms of their chemistry, check out the video for “Mine” above and stay tuned for more from Devon Reason & Travis Gorman.

Although the first installment of the All City series may have been more expansive, All City Vol. 2 takes a larger look at Minneapolis & Chicago’s hip hop scenes, while still incorporating a few other national artists. 2014 has been a great year for music in both Chicago & Minneapolis, with a lot of creativity brewing in the Mid-West. All City Vol. 2 takes some of our favorites from Chicago, Minneapolis and other cities across the nation. Check out the compilation below and keep an eye out for the All City feature.

This past Friday, we made our way into the Kitty Kat Club for the ‘Foolish Bastard’ event. The night featured: BitsBits, bvckwoods, Finding Novyon (w/The Rotation), and sloslylove. On what seemed to be a ‘quieter’ cold night in Minneapolis, The Kitty Kat Club made out to be a solid evening filled with good energy and music. The night was capped of by highlighting yet another dope performance from Finding Novyon and The Rotation, followed by sloslylove’s super chill instrumentals to close out the night.
