“THE ENDOWMENT is a celebration of Hip Hop culture and the spirit of resistance that drives it. Featuring some of the most dynamic, boundary-pushing performers in the Twin Cities hip hop scene, as well as dancers, poets, and the legendary DJ Kool Akiem on the wheels of steel, the intergenerational lineup is based around the theme of “what we inherit, we pass on.” In that spirit, the show is also a fundraiser for Twin Cities organization TruArtSpeaks, as well as the birthday celebration of the organization’s founder, Tish Jones.”

Rich Garvey recently linked up with deM atlaS on a new record dubbed “Untrue.” Featuring production from Phib, the dreamy instrumental glides under deM’s opening lines perfectly while it builds. The record takes a much more upbeat turn around the 30 second mark leading into deM atlaS’ laid back chorus. Rich comes in hot on the 2nd verse commanding his flow with the prowess of a veteran. A solid record from 2 of the Twin Cities’ best pound for pound MCs, check out “Untrue” above and stay tuned for more from Rich Garvey.

deM atlaS has come a long way. In just 2 years he’s gone from a mere up and comer with a HOT first project, hitting up small shows, parties and open mics regularly; now the kid’s signed to Rhymesayers, the city’s leading hip hop label and has performed on major stages like SoundSet and Odd Future’s Flog Gnaw Carnival. With the release of his most recent project, DWNR, doing well at the end of 2014, deM is now gearing up for his first headlining show tonight at the 7th Street Entry. This one’s 18+ and tickets are currently sold out, if you’re dying to go you’ll have to scan Craigslist or Facebook.
Just ahead of his first headlining show, deM atlaS recently took to Twitter to drop a new track titled “With A Smile”. That signature boom-bap fused with a hefty amount of soul, continues to give deM his genuine sound. The Rhymesayers MC turned a lot of heads with DWNR and is known for his amazing live performances, if you have the chance to hit up his 7th Street debut….DO IT. Peep his new single “With A Smile” below, his show is already sold out so you’ll need to scan Craigslist or FB for tickets.
Back at the top of 2013, a young deM atlaS released his debut solo effort Charle Brwn. At that time deM was kind of under the radar, but heads were definitely starting to turn to his way by Spring. Known for his energetic presence and theatrical live shows, the kid slowly began to lock in on his strengths, growing with each appearance. The video for “Charlie Brown” is bittersweet, evolution is apart of every artists path, but one can’t deny the visual’s youthful authenticity. Perhaps his best known single, “Charlie Brown” continues to get spins in our decks; check the video out above.
