Location: 205 E Hennepin Avenue, Minneapolis When: Wednesday, October 5th @ 9PM
With the Zombie Pub Crawl right around the corner, things are beginning to heat up for the Twin Cities’ live music circuit. This Wednesday, Kashy (ND) and Kihndyn Peters (Create) will be performing at Honey, the event features a solid lineup of up and coming artists including Andre Mariette, Dis-Play, Gabriella Douglas and more. This one is 21+ and the door is only $6, click the link below for more info.
A couple of months ago the kid Kihndyn Peters dropped a new projected titled The Como Chronicles. The project spans 20 tracks and features a plethora of prominent local artists including JayLap, Eli The Prophet, Gabriella Jacobs, ATR, and Big Zach to name a few. Kihndyn Peters shows off a knack for introspective writing with “No Money” & “Hands,” but quickly loosens up with records like “Como” and “Kings.” The Como Chronicles plays through very well, the tracks maintain their own identity but also coalesce, a rarity for projects with this many tracks. Slick rhymes and punchlines all around, Kihndyn is one of those few pure MCs. After a recent bout of bad luck that included a break in, Peter’s will soon take his talents to another state, tonight will be his very last performance on a Minnesota stage for quite some time. Eli The Prophet is set to headline the show, it will also be his last performances in Minnesota before he leaves to travel the world. A bittersweet occasion, head down to 7th Street tonight for what should be a good time and make sure to check out The Como Chronicles below.
Location: 320 Cedar Avenue, Minneapolis When: Thursday, April 2nd @ 9PM
This Thursday, the Red Sea will play host to what looks like a pretty good show. The event features Metasota, Lord of The Fly, Why Khaliq, CRASHprez and Create, as well as Tiiiiiiiiiip on the 1s & 2s. This one’s 21+ and tickets are $10 at the door, head down to the Red Sea tonight for what should be a fun night.
ATR The Sage links up with Pelly & Create for the remix to “Watch Out”. Not exactly sure what the situation was, but the track may be directed at some “fuck ass wannabe 507 kids”. With the fuel, the three MCs proceed to light the sample on fire with a bevy of punchlines and flows. No idea where they are, but the view doesn’t look too shabby either. Peep the visual above and be on the look out for more from ATR The Sage, Pelly & the kid Create.
The kid CREATE has been on our radar since we first heard him featured on The Cannaholics’ last project C-Squared. Shortly after we witnessed him perform at the Triple Rock Social Club and we’ve been watching ever since. With his upcoming album R.A.P L.I.F.E dropping April 29th, CREATE gives us a dope record to hold us over. Produced by Halogen One, CREATE showcases that razor sharp lyricism he’s becoming known for; peep the record above and keep an eye out for more.
Tomorrow, Niles Miller will be LIVE at Cause on Lake & Lyndale so it’s only right that we throw up his last project. If you don’t already know, Bright Future dropped at the tail end of August and featured production from the likes of Chase N Cashe, J.R. Patton, Jimmy V & Rich Lee among others. This was definitely one of the more solid projects that came out of Minneapolis in 2013, check it out above and make sure to catch Niles LIVE at Cause tomorrow.
This Sunday at Triple Rock, there will be a nice lineup of Hip-Hop artists, including our good friends of Glow Mechanics. The night features: Create, West Village, Kids Like Us, Exxe, Cannaholics, and DJ Flow. There are a decent amount of artists on this lovely New Years Eve Eve, and we suggest making an attempt to catch some of these artists live. Stop on down and have a drink or five and start celebrating the New Year.
Minneapolis’ own Create Karma will be throwing a release party tonight at Studiiyo 23. The event is set to kick off at 5pm and will go until 8pm, it’s slated to feature a live DJ and FREE beer for those of us who are of age. This should definitely be a good time so anyone who has nothing to do should come on down and enjoy the party.
South Side spitter Niles Miller took to Twitter earlier today to release a new track entitled “FuckWithNiYouKnowIGotIt”. The vet goes in over Jay-Z’s record once again showcasing his ability to command the track. Peep the record below, you can catch Niles live tonight at O’Gara’s for The Cannaholic’s “Fright Night” event.
